Call your coordinator and ask: what are my preferences set for? : pay, deadhead miles, Loaded miles.

You can make it simple odometer means they are loking for a number.
Real easy of you have pc miler just type in your run for the day and it will give you the miles and state miles use 1-whatever is needed.

flightline, the parameters are set on the coordinators computer. they would be initially set up when you had lunch with him on the 2d day of orientation, the parameters are how far you deadhead, how much weight you can haul, what size tarps you have 2, 4, 6, 8 foot, type trl, etc etc etc.

however when you go on loadboard you can see all the loads, and you can match yourself even with a load that shows refused, and you can commit yourself to a load.

it seems as if you need to be more proactive in getting yourself loads, and honestly i would never wait from wed to sat on a load paying 5.00 a mile for 123 miles . if it picked up same day and delivered next day maybe.

and with a step you also need a set of store bought load levelers, then you can play flatbed too.

i did over 200,000 gross my first year with mercer , get home often, you just cant be to picky.

honestly booking a load on wed , thats loads sat going 123 miles is burning a whole lot of daylight, or just ask for another coordinator, dang whose feelings it hurts, its your wallet!!!!

Actually I do watch the load board,
Actually I do have 4 factory load levers and 4 ramps and 6 and 8 foot tarps and coil tarps and fully set up with oversize equipment.
Actually I did ask for another cordinatar a few weeks back when I was deadheading as much as loaded and running the east coast.

But I am not real pushy and call in every hour. I don't care to run as a supertrucker but want the high dollars per mile.

Flightline, You need to ask your Co/disp. what your set parameters are, I'm not saying you, but I been there when some O/Os say to the Co " I ain't going nowhere for $2.00 / mile or less" or I don't run north or east . This gets recorded on the Co. computer. Once it's on the computer, if your sitting on top of a load going somewhere good and it pays $2.00/ mi. you ain't getting matched or offered it .Parameters are so your Co. can deal with 40+ trucks per day and is not offering 30 + loads per day just to hear you say no,no,no! Another example is you just don't want to haul over 35,000. Any load that pops up weighing 35,001 is not going to get offered to you, even if you try to accept it on line it will kick out your bid. Just like if you say I ain't deadheading over 50 miles for a load, you don't get offered the 51 mile deadhead. My parameters change with the seasons.
Mercer is a OK, I don't feel like I'm part of a family or any of that other hype they try to portray. About 2/3s of what you need to know is discussed in orientation, in my group of 10, 7 of them never kept their mouths shut long enough to hear what they needed to succeed, They felt like, been there done that. They were there with their wives and it turned into a social event for them. 1 had been with Mercer 10 years before and knew the deal, that left 2 who actually listened. Not a very good average is it? I have never seen any of my orientation class after that Thursday.
I did $149,800 last year with a flat, hauled 2 OD loads and several, several 8' tarp loads. never went west of TX OK KS, north of WI MI PA NJ , only ran in the ice and snow once.
I hope you can get it figured out, cuz I know changing companies sure sucks.

I'm like you. When there is snow, I'm home making snow money. Run about 3 weeks and stay home about 1-1.5 weeks.
Come winter-I'm home or work locally as a company driver. - need to be smart how you make your money and why.

no one is talking about super trucking, if you got all that equipment, no way you shouldnt be getting loads.

my average for last year was 1.86 mile loaded and empty. did over 200,000. home regularly . you just got to learn the system.

heck i ran into a guy the other day on his third load and had no idea of how to get on the loadboard. i gave hime the number to call and get setup on it and got him on the loadboard. i know when i went thru orientation i gathered all that info. as high seas said to some it was social hour.

maybe us middle ga boys just pay more attention.

I highly doubt that it's only the GA boys that pay attention. Some people forget the simple mathematical ratio. Human being has one mouth and two ears. Therefore, they should listen twice as much as they talk. Some people have not learned this and when they are old enough to wipe their own butts, they still talk like the laser printer - forgetting that in order to be the laser printer you have to be programmer with the right information.
