These are some ideas I have about some future regulations:
All CDL holder will be required to have neural implant ports and 3 catheters installed on their body.
After the Pretrip inspection... A driver would simply plug into the neural impant port and the trucks computer would run a quick EMG verifying that you are the authorized driver of said truck and allowing you to start the truck.
Tubes will then be inserted to available catheter ports (3 are required by law) however companies can require more ports, say a company doesn't want the truck to stop for the driver to use a restroom(lost revenue). a catheter could also be used to remove waste directly from the bloodstream... (popular with the largest carriers)
The primay use of the catheter ports is to administer DOT approved neuro-transmitters, and sleep agents(like L tryptophan) These will induce sleep when HOS have been used up and the driver requires 10 hours off duty/sleeper berth. After all, DOT has to enforce that the driver IS in fact sleeping of his/her break.
The 3rd law required catheter port is used for continuous monitoring of body metabolite production, in which all popular drugs will be monitored and sent via Qualcom to the DOT and drivers company(the company MUST pay for this service). Driver has a headache? Not to worry, he will place a request(via Qualcom) to the DOT and the will authorize ibuprofen to be administered via catheter 1 or 2 the correct milligram amount for the drivers body size. After all, it's ALL about SAFETY!
Oh, isn't the future of trucking gonna be fun!![]()

was eating dinner and reading new issue of The Trucker, they highlighted the new Euro Volvo and the Euro ELOG system, apparently overthere your CDL has a microchip and in the Volvo's there is a port above your head similar to a ATM machine, you must insert your CDL and that will key the ELOG to match your CDL

Now imagine just that over here LOL

Youre probably not far off

A computer in the sleeper you have to hook up to your brain to prove that you slept at least 8 hours.
Driving will be limited to 4 hours for any consecutive 24 hour period.
Break the HOS limits and the doors lock, bars go over the windows automatically and a GPS transponder contacts the nearest DOT officer to come and give you your driving award. -
Free medical care? Or a $200 a week deduction for all this?
-
Deduction of course... And taxable.
-
At my age, I don't even want to think about catheters...yikes
-
It will never work. For many of the crop of current NEWBS, they won't be able to tell the difference between being awake and sleeping.
-
Trucks will have NO knobs buttons or switches, everything will be automated because we wouldn't want a driver to be distracted!
