Well. I pulled 2 loads close to home. (within a 200 mile radius) Just wanted to test my equipment out before I got on my longer runs. At any rate. I did ok. I averaged 1.86 per mile for every mile my truck rolled. My loaded miles was well 4.39 for the first load. and 2 per mile for the second. Both loads I deadheaded back home because either the rates sucked or the loads did not meet my time requirements. Lots of CHEAP freight right now in the Chicagoland area for Reefers. I was quoted from Gurnee,IL to Atlanta a rate of 1350. Thats a frickin joke!!! Oh yeah and on the second load I'll have some detention time due to the fact I was hornswaggled by the receiver for like 6 hours. Either way. More bread for me. I used roughly 500 dollars worth of fuel. for both runs. I dunno not too bad if ya ask me.

Congrats on surviving week 1! Only you can be the judge if it was a good one or not. Two sets of clean bills and no breakdowns to start sounds like a win no matter what.

Cpm stats on short hauls isn't very meaningful. You really need to look at it on a revenue per day basis. Especially if you're hauling a reefer. If you're sitting on a dock more hours than you're moving, you are now renting an attended truck by the day.

It will take trial and error and some time on your part to find the good customers, timing, and routes that makes your business profitable. As the months go by, you should be continuing to build your good safety score and claim-free reputation, as well as developing a better sense of how to negotiate in the markets you move through.
