Cats?

I'd be interested as well to know if anyone has a cat on a truck. I have a great cat at home I'd love to take with us when we finish training.

 

I have seen quite a number of cats sitting peacefully in trucks parked at truck stops. They dont seem to be wanting to get out frantically nor unhappy. I am sure if that is home, they adapt. Have never spoken to a trucker who takes a cat though.

 

seen lots of people with cat(s) in trucks. they will flip out for awhile untill they get used to it,so i'm told.keep the windows up untill you know the cat has adjusted to this new living arrangement.you wouldn't want it jumping out at highway speeds and they WILL.same goes for when you open the door-it will hi tail it across the truckstop,good luck catching it! so i'm told-after they get adjusted to it they will sit up on the dash like no big deal.seen a couple that had 3 in their truck,talked to them and they told me this stuff i'm telling you.

 

cat's gotta have the box-that way you won't find any surprises when you jump outta the sleeper!

 

I have a cat that does not use a litter box. He goes outside like a dog. He will even wake me up on the weekend to let him out when I am trying to sleep in. Coolest cat ever! I think he actually thinks he is a dog.

I was wondering about taking him in a truck and I don't know if he will do well on a leash to go outside.

 

Cats do fine in a truck...most anyway.

They're lazy little creatures & love to lounge around...except when you're trying to sleep & they deem that as the time to get some excersize.

Cats are here to show us that not all creatures have a purpose in nature.

All that said, I had a cat in the truck.
He was just fine.
I found him as a kitten.
I should say he found me.

I was at a tank wash in Cali.
This kitten, with a collar, roamed over to my running truck & jumped up onto the steps & then the rear deck.

He wasn't afraid of the truck at all.
When I opened the driver's door to get in, he did.
I found him all nestled into my pillow with that "I'm home, you can feed me now" look on his face by the time I got in.
He was home.
I said ok, but you're getting your own pillow & dishes.
Don't get used to mine.
Off we went.

He was good company & never had a problem with incontinence.
I did set him up with a cat box using that no smell litter.
It slid under the bunk area neatly & he could use it going down the road.
I never did smell anything from the box.
As with keeping any small animal, you do have a little cleanup work to perform.
It was only marginally more effort than I usually put in cleaning up after myself anyway.

Mostly he used outdoors but there was a time or three that neither of us was going to venture out in the weather.

He'd get up in the front seat & seemed to enjoy just going somewhere.

He got some excersize outside & I gave him some hanging things to chase & play with going down the road.

 

My wife took our cat with us a lot and its been pretty much like you describe.

Like was mentioned before be very careful about open windows and doors. He will try to get out and explore.
