Yep LTL and doubles is a injury job waiting to happen. But getting an attorney is the best thing you can do. I injured my back in 99 and after I got an attorney they catered to me check was in the mail every week and after 2 years went back to work and got a big fat lump sum check. That was the best 2 year paid vacation I ever had. Went back to work for the same company and never had a problem with them

Ah gees an update. Not that even 5 of you care. My hand was mangled. I tried to get it out of the way. Say it, I'm a stupid chick who had no business doing a mans job. I know how you feel.
Never the less, my mashed hand is on the mend! Rally round my fantasy trucking family. You have no idea how horrible this is. God bless you it NEVER happens to you. Your lack off caring is underwhelming. So be it.

First time I read this FTD. I hope you feel better and heal fully. They give you any problems, you contact the state workers comp board. They are on your side and will help resolve many issues. You can find them online.

I hurt my back once and after similar treatment the state threatened them with a $10,000 fine. The ball got rolling then.

It's amazing how some of these companies are and hopes of dodging things. They could care less about people.

Heed my warning! It's bad and hurts. How can you drive if your left hand is mangled.
I was EXTREMELY fortunate to be refered to a caring and healing hand specialist. The insurance company had other ideas.
I'm working to be on the mend. Maybe I'll end up pulling cans again in Hawai'i. I can only hope. In the meanwhile, I do my best here on my own.

Thanks to those who sent comfort. The rest of you can burn in hell with the insurance adjuster. This #### hurts. I didn't deserve it. Neither do you.

That I should update. I'm in physical therapy. It's not going well. There is a concern that doesn't present on an xray. I'm experiencing stabbing (like an ice pick)pain in my hand that is radiating up into my index finger. I'm trying so hard to get better, I have my old job waiting for me when I get back up to speed. It's just not getting better. Please, people! Be careful! Don't end up like me....I don't care about the scars, it scares me that I can't curl my hand up into a fist any more!

That sounds like a damaged nerve. Just like a back injury, anything presses against a nerve it hurts like crazy. They might have to do surgery.

I'll move this thread down to Drivers Health where it fits in with other medical concerns!

I agree ... Sounds like nerve pain ... X-rays won't show soft tissue issues, only bone... Sounds like there was massive soft tissue damage (major ouch!!) ... Might resolve with time (hopefully), might not (unfortunately) or somewhere in between. My husband had to deal with major workcomp stuff years back... THAT'S a big enough head ache in its self... Wishing you well...
