I believe the OP stated the $350.00 was gross.
I see number like yours a lot for actual miles vs paid. That's a 15% difference. I'm curious, do they provide you the routing for that?
is 350 a week normal?

Yes though I am getting a bit more leeway with routing from my DM now. Sometimes I find a route 10 miles longer but 45 mins faster. I'll drive a longer route it it saves me a half hour. But their software doesn't calculate actual miles just city to city.
An atlas is fine for across state/country routing. Once you go in the city local its about as useful as a butthole on your elbow. Then a zoomed in map on my gps is nice. It's nice to know exactly how many miles I have left to drive and approx how long it will take me to drive them. Can also find the closest (or farthest on my route) parking/truck stop as well as any wal marts nearby. They are handy little devices. I'm sure when cell phones came out the old schoolers said they would never use those either.airforcetoo Thanks this. -
I never claimed to know it all. But what I do know is just because your grandpa tells you people who use GPS are 'too dependent on technology' doesn't mean he nor you know squat about anyone else or their understanding of the devices they may or may not choose to use. You wanna use a map? Have at it super driver. But don't measure the ability of those you don't know by your own limitations. It makes you look ignorant.

Yeah ... the routes they tell us to take suck and are time consuming.

This grandpa has seen many errors and faults in the GPS Grandma insists on using . It's a lot easier to get her SUV turned around than it would trying to turn your rig around .
-
That's why you don't rely solely on the gps. It might work for grandma but we are expected to use our eyes, ears and common sense. GPS is a tool used to supplement my atlas, company directions, and even google earth and google maps. I use them all to make my job a little bit easier and less time consuming.
If I give you a spade and a backhoe and tell you to dig me a hole are you going to use the spade just because it is the way pappy did it? No you are going to use the backhoe, but you keep that spade around just in case you need it.
Sorry after 17 years planting bodies you had to expect a digging analogy. -
$350.00 a week gross or net is ridiculous. Even for a new driver. Anyone that says it's ok is selling themselves short and setting your self up for failure.
airforcetoo and Dna Mach Thank this. -
I didn't know most politicians were recruiters for BFI trucking companies!

i understand your point.but i don't think anyone is saying it's right.but rather just put your time in get the exp to move to a better company.
