Anyone that will be going to Crete's Knoxville Tn terminal for orientation, this is a warning. Appearance is everything to me and the appearance of the Knoxville terminal is disgusting. I thought it was a drop yard so I looked around and couldn't find anything that looked like a terminal. This place is nasty and all of trailers there were junky. They had about 3 trucks on the lot and all of them looked terrible.

I'm new to the trucking business so I don't have a clue if this is how it really is out here, but I couldn't bring myself to go to orientation after staying at a ratty motel and looking at my home terminal. All of Nashville terminals look like terminals, so that's what I expected when I drove up to Knoxville. Man, it made me mad.

So i paid for my motel room myself. (Crete didn't reserve one for me, that sucked.) Paid for my rent a car, didn't want anything to do with oweing Crete anything.:biggrin_25513:

So I'm warning all new drivers signing up for Crete's Knoxville terminal to run as fast as you can, because it not what you would expect from a Big Company like Crete.

Did I mention that I was the only one there for orientation, that also raised a red flag when I was checking in.

Please help me on this matter, is this what I can expect or is this just me. Thanks

I ACTUALLY start orientation wedsnday at thier atlanta terminal (marietta). Ive seen it b4 tho and it looks okay. Youll learn that some terminals are better looking than others, just the way it is sometimes

Good Luck. That Knoxville terminal turned me off. I'm starting at Interstate on Monday. My classmate is already training and he said it was what I was looking for.

The Knoxville terminal does look rough but if I remember correctly there is actually two parts to that terminal. But as the other post states some are not a good as others.

    wow, lol.

my home terminal is about the size of a mcdonalds. i still happily work for them. i guess if youre going to be working for someone that will have you sitting at a terminal alot, its appearance should matter.....:biggrin_25513:

ive been to wilmer, kc, salt lake, lincoln and cheyenne. theyre all nice save salt lake, but meh, they cant all be winners. cheyenne is like a hilton.

that's the first I have ever heard of orientation at Knoxville - they do orientation at Marietta, GA not Knoxville. That old terminal was bought from a regional outfit and not upgraded because they are currently building a state of the art terminal and maintenance facility just west of the I-40 / I-75 split near the 369mm.
The terminal is a drop lot and IS the trailer maintenance facility which is why they were all "junky", there is a second building at the bottom of the hill that does tractor repairs.
Once they move into the new place, that will leave Spartanburg, SC as the hellhole terminal of the company (2 steps better than DeLand, FL).
I've never been put in a bad motel with them either, so unfortunately it sounds like someone has goofed and I hope you were honest and brought it to their attention. Orientation at Marietta is what you have imagined - a nice modern facility, classroom training, catered lunches and a company car for drivers to use to shuttle to and from the motel.

I talked to Crete about the terminal and the motel. I told them everything that I went thru and seen. She said that was the terminal that I saw and also the maintenance facility. I don't believe she even knows what it looks like, all I know is that it didn't feel right at all. I do believe that someone might have erred, but I can only go with what they tell me. I lost time and money on this deal and she only wanted to give me another date for training at the same place:biggrin_25526:But all of that is water under the bridge now, starting at Interstate Distributers 9/17.

I have 2 classmates that are at IDC. One said he loved it , haven't heard from the other one yet. His training is going great, he's been otr for 3 weeks now and has a real good trainer. All I know right now is that terminal in Lebanon,Tn is very nice and they put you up in a nice motel(suite, inn). They also don't do physicals just drug screen in orientation.
