And when you think you have it figured out and know what you are doing the day will come that you cant back a trailer into a dock to save your life. It took me about half a year to get really confident at backing into docks, but i still ahve my days that i just cant hit the hole.

To the OP, are you talking about a straight back or an alley Dock? Straight back, as others have said, just turn towards the trailer. Look in your mirrors (left and right) and if you see the trailer in your left mirror coming to the left then turn the wheel a bit to the left to correct it. If you see it in your right mirror turning to the right then turn wheel a bit to the right. Don't over-correct. All it takes is a little turn and give it time to turn a bit. A lot of times people over-correct because they don't take into account the time it takes for the trailer to respond.
If you are talking about an alley dock, make sure that you look out your driver side window and look at the driver side tires. Line them up just about 1-2 feet inside of the closest barrier by turning your wheel a little to the right and when it gets in the right place just to the inside of the alley, turn sharp left and pivot your trailer until it is straight in the hole. Then pull forward to straighten your tractor out with your trailer and then straight back in the rest of the way.
Good luck!davetiow Thanks this.
