It is much easier to tune one antenna than two co-phased.Your Galaxy94 HP will do good as a base with a large enough power supply with or without an amplifier.
-
also the antenna was tuned before i got the truck. does it change when you swap radios or will the swr stay low?
-
Galaxy 94 HP will make a heck of a Base Station Yes...Just make sure you check the Amperage the radio requires and get a large enough power supply...
As for the dual antenna's, it's allot easier just to tune one (usually on the drivers side) than it is to do a co-phase set-up...Plus, no one can tell the difference on the receiving end if your running one or two.
What some guys will do, is have just the one on the drivers side hooked up, and then they will have one on the other side just for looks... -
it is on the drivers mirror . what about the tuning
-
wouldn't hurt to check it...Just changing radios won't change the SWR...
-
Do you usually leave the swr in line I have seen that a few times on the net
-
I do...That way if a problem pops up, I can usually spot it before I start smelling smoke!
In my work truck I keep one of those cheap Radio Shack SWR/Watt meters in line all the time, and sorta glance at it every now and then just to make sure the needle is moving where it should be...
If your going to be running a Amp, IMO it's a good idea to leave a meter in-line all the time...If a coax connector shorts out, and your running a Amp, it only takes one Key to burn one of those things up, so by having a meter in-line usually you can spot a problem before it's too late...seinb and MARCEL LEDBETTER Thank this. -
ok thanks will do would hate to fry a not so cheep radio
