Maintenance and fuel are going to be big variables.
Maintenance is based at $0.12 per mile, $250 above you are only running 2,000 miles.... I am generally pushing closer to 3,000 so that would be a little more. plus they add about 18% to cover deadhead and personal use miles.
For fuel, I have built a nest egg up on my fuel card for the just in case/emergency moments (around $3,000) plus I get a $100 cash advance from my fuel money that I did not account for in my take home figure.
Also I have an occupational insurance on myself that cost me about $45 a week.....
You really got me thinking, I will set down this weekend and take a closer look and give you actual numbers. $1500 was an estimate, it may actually be more.Travelinman Thanks this. -
Do they direct deposit to your personal
Bank account or is it only com data card?
This would be the deal breaker for me all my
Bills are drafted out of my acct each month
So I don't have to fool with it on the road -
You can set up a comdata card where you can transfer funds from your card to your bank account. You can also register a comcheck and deposit it into your bank account. Funds should be available in your bank account the next day at the latest.Travelinman and Truckenstein Thank this.

Is it true the Agents tend to give the good loads to L/Os? Will the person who owns both the truck and trailer have difficulty finding good loads?
-
I have heard the opposite, that the company pushes all the cheap loads onto the lease operators and that they can't refuse loads. I doubt that is true. My guess is that they will give the best load to the one who performs best and knows how to run their business.
You will be assigned a dispatcher when you lease your truck and trailer to CRST Malone. The dispatcher should be able to help you find decent paying loads. When I leased to them many years ago I did much of my own dispatching and searching for loads. I called agents and brokers to find the better paying loads. It is your truck and trailer and you make the decision as to whether to take a load or not. I had a minimum haul rate when I was with them and didn't go below that minimum. The key is to stay in their primary freight lanes. If you go to obscure places where freight is sparse then you may have some difficulty finding loads. If you stay in the middle of the country then you should stay busy with fairly decent rates. If you run to the Northwest or Southwest, then you should not expect to come out with great rates, no matter whom you decide to lease your equipment. Starting out I would listen to my dispatcher and ask where the best freight is running and I would then stay in that area. You should do well with them if you stay within Chicago, Pittsburg, Atlanta/Birmingham area. They have freight outside of that area, but those lanes should be the better paying.Travelinman Thanks this. -
Are u able to use outside loadboards like dat or getloaded.com
-
Back when I leased to them you could use loadboards and find broker loads if nothing was available in the area. The contract that I had at the time gave me a slightly higher percentage if I found my own broker loads. I think that they changed it after I left. You can ask their recruiting people or have them send you a copy of their contract. -
Wow, too many miles, i do about 15OO-2OOO miles a week and bring home more than that!!!!
Work smarter not harder.... -
I sometimes use UTI/ Landstarbrokerboard/ or the internet truckstop.Truckenstein Thanks this.
