I am a firm believer in the belief that if a woman is more important than your truck , there is something wrong , I haven't got time to deal with BS at home , I make time , and try my best not to waste it ( shippers do that for me ) , there is one little lady I care about , she is going to be 4 years old this year i wouldn't return home if her mama died tommorow if I was under load , i return home to see the man who tuaght me how to drive a three stick 6 and 4 , and my dog and my neice , thats it , I own my own house , one tractor ( cornfield caddilac ) that she will learn how to drive with one day when she is old enough . I know wemon look nice , but sometimes all i see is trouble when they walk up . I know i will most likely get burned for this , char broiled black is more like it . They are a totally diffent breed , and in my view the problems that some of them represent like the case i have read about just in these last 2 pages is a prime example , I only know of one that could handle being a trucker's wife , and she is gone , so I would advise either fixing it , or ending it , though that is just my opinion , i am preparing for the onslaught .....

My 4th and 5th exwife both loved to say the same crap as the OP's wife says.
Now that I'm retired, wife #6 is happy.SHC Thanks this. -
Be sure she knows that she's what you come home to and that you want to be with her just as much but you have to do what you have to do for the benefit of the both of you.
Looks like you have a year for her to get used to it and things could change.
Wishing you both the best.AFSTruckerswife and NewNashGuy Thank this. -
I have been married 3 times. My first husband was a no good slacker and I was only 16.(he does not count). My 2nd husband was a career trucker who drove OTR. I had no problem with his job and even went with him when i could. We were married 16 years and the job is not what split us up. It was his lack of effection when he did get home and the fact that he felt he did not need to help me out with anything the 4 days a month he was there. My 3rd and final husband is also a trucker although this is not what he did when we met. He too drives OTR..BUT....I ride with him 24/7/365. He calls me his "navigator with benefits"...*S* . Through his job we are both getting to fulfill dreams we both have had for many years...to see the country and get paid for it! I believe it takes a special breed to be a trucker and a truckers wife. Some can handle it quite well and some can't. As for the wives....alot think they can handle it until their man is actually gone and then she realizes it is not for her. Drivers do the same. They are all hyped up about driving and then after a few months, or less, alot call it quits. Unfortunately, once the man commits, it is hard to turn back! Nothing we say can help this OP because he is not the one with the problem, she is. They are going to have to talk and see if the wife will try to be more understanding for the next few months until his year is up. THEN....they can go from there. Who knows, she may be ok with it by then!

If you have what it takes to be a career driver, you might not have what it takes to be a career husband.
If you see your wife as being the problem, as opposed to the job, maybe you're a career driver.AFSTruckerswife Thanks this. -
What ever happened to "our" house?
If you care more for you precious job than for your beloved wife, well - karma is a bitc#.camerabrat and Wargames Thank this. -
Some people kind of implied this but I will say it straight up. Lie to her and tell her you will do it for a year. By the time the year is over she will be more used to it. Or by the time the year is over you may not like OTR.
I didn't have that problem but we were married 15 years before I started. She has no problem with me being out. I make time for her every day. I can see real joy on her face when I get home.the flying scotsman Thanks this.
