You're not the only one out here...I passed an empty step deck on I 15 today, heading east. And speaking of miles, come next Monday...I'll have a bit over 3,100 miles, thats a pretty good way to start a week.

Well I got home back to back weekends!! I understand the time of season and freight issue, that's why I haven't complained. Plus when I do get hung out, the next week I usually get a few nights at home. So they do make it up to me...

I've taken on a new attitude of not expecting to get home on the weekend, but treating it as a surprise... That way there is no disappointment...

    Be safe out there!!

I've got one even better than that:
I pretty much live in my truck these days so I've started calling it home. The good thing is I'm home almost every night! :biggrin_25520:

Got my 34 in Wichita Falls then hit the road about 09:30 this morning. Missed my planed fuel stop so pulled into Laredo on empty. I put 156 gallons on so I couldn't have had any more than 44 gallons in the tanks. How much of that is usable I don't know.
Dropping trailer at the Schneider yard in the morning and hopefully get out right away. This place is an A #1 S-hole.

    I taking your still running a 07. I would say 170.
On the new trucks I would say 135 to 140.
And that's only if you squeeze every drop you can in. The tanks will hold 90 percent of capacity. Hundred gallon tank holds 90 gallons 80 gallon tanks 70 gallons.
fuel pickup is 1 to 2 inches off the bottom of the tank. So think wisely when pushing it that near to E

Thanks, I usually look for fuel around 500 miles, that's over half a tank. And I like to fill up when I shut down at night so I don't have any surprises in the morning. It just got away from me this time.

I've had a great run going for the past couple of weeks and then I hit TX. Did a 34 when I got here. Drove 500 miles on Sunday to Laredo, TX. Delivered first thing Monday (dropped loaded trailer at freight forwarder to be taken to Mexico) morning then sat for 27 hours. I was told there was a trailer coming back from Mexico that thy wanted me haul back to the glass plant. I guess their communications aren't so great with Mexicans. So after they had me sitting for 27 hours I got a deadhead bobtail move 500 miles back to the glass plant in Wichita Falls. Now I sit waiting for a load to get me home by Friday. One thing I can say is driving bobtail feels like you are in sports car and much quieter then when loaded.

I've been thinking about coming over to Maverick's glass division. I live one hundred miles from Geneva, NY in Binghamton. I imagine I'd be loading out of there quite a bit when I come out of the house. I was wondering if Maverick would let me get a load out to California to visit friends? Does the glass division get out there often?

I always try to fill up within 200 miles of my delivery. That way I have plenty of fuel to go to my pick up wherever that may be and run for the day.
When I leave the shipper my routes are planned out as far as where I am stopping for the night and where I am stopping for fuel.

Just call me old and experienced. It would just bugged me to death not having my runs all planned. Not to make it sound like it's a lot of work.
99% of the time I do it all in my head. After 30 some years of running the road you sorted know where things are. LOL
