how does the swr meter work on the galaxy 94hp. i have it set to swr and when i transmit its below 1.5 but when i receive it can go as high as 3 not sure if it is right and I read something about a auto calibration. and i don't have access to a swr meter wish i did but lots of snow and no $![]()

As long as you are following the directions to use the SWR meter in the manual, your readings for SWR should be correct.
The other meter reading should be your receive strength. Or sometimes referred as the S-Meter.
The higher the reading the stronger the receive signal -

so when its set to swr and I'm receiving its not reading swr. wish i had a meter but just don't

SWR is only reading when you key up.
To check SWR, with the radio in AM mode and SWR switch set to SWR, key the radio and take note of the SWR reading on the meter.
If you look on the meter during receive, you see the meter is pointing at 3 as you say on the SWR portion of the meter. Now look to the top of the meter, it shows a Signal Strength of about S10
