I am new to trucking as in tomorrow will be my 1st day driving with my trainer Before signing with a company I looked around. When I 1st started trying to get CDL I went to CR England That did not work out for me. I came home and went to a local school. When sign on with my 1st company I did not want another CR England. Signed on with a local company. Only 4 drivers hired last week. Some of the big companys that have contacted me tell me I will not be happy with AmCan because I spend 12 weeks with a trainer. Then I have to team for 1 year before I get my own truck but I am home every week. Pay for training is better than big companys offer and more home time.

 

I worked for a local company that had us home every night. Trainees were paid $100 a day no matter how long or short the day. On a five day week it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately that company went out of business. If you get the hometime you're looking for and get the pay you're looking for then the rest can usually be handled.

 

I agree 100% with you I've tried a buch of companies too.Far as I'm concerned they are all out to rip you off,by the way I've been driving for 23 years as well,but no more I've had it.

 

sounds to me like one of thousands of drivers out here looking to make a decent paycheck and have some respect .

I love the people that cry and whine about every bad boss or company they work for. It's a free country, YOU try being the boss and see how it works out for you!

 

the reason why a few Europian countries are in trouble is because they tried to pull the same crap that the greedy pigs here did . Germany has the strongest labor force in the world . In most Europian countries , if you have a job, IT IS THE LAW that you get 4 or 5 weeks vacation every year .

 

5 weeks a year....roughly 10%. Great, if you earn it. But if you're so enamored with with European model, well....see ya.

 

What greedy crap? Government getting involved and promising things they can't afford like 5 weeks vacations and garenteed jobs. Then yup, your right. That's why they are broke.
