Bill, you always have good insight into these things. Would you go into a little more detail?

Being in ND/Montana and hauling sand I keep having to chuckle at the "bubble" talk. A bubble is blown up by artificial means. The housing bubble was blown by cheap and easy to get money. A buddy of mine who works hauling dirt says his company has 18 well pads to build by mid February, and that's just one of dozens of dirt haulers. New rigs are spouting up all over out here, and Montana hasn't even gotten started yet. That isn't the recipe for a bubble. There's actual work that needs real people and equipment. You can make the argument it's a little overheated in some ways, but a bubble it's not.

I currently have a used trailer and have a new one on the way next month. The reason the trailers are so hard to find isn't because ND is a bubble, it's because there are now lots of places needing this type of specialized equipment. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Kansas. They now have the Niobrara formation going into South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. Ohio may be starting up. West Virginia and the Appalacians are reportedly nat gas havens. The manufacturers are behind because of the sheer number of trailers needed. Plus, per the salesman I bought my new trailer from, finding good aluminum welders has been a real head ache for the manufacturers. They can't find enough good people to man the assembly lines.

As for finding a trailer or two, try hitting Mac trailers web site. They have a used trailer division called Mac Leasing. That's where I got my used trailer. It's a former cement hauler that's been sandblasted and converted to sand use. If nothing else call them and see if they have anything being converted or anything coming in.

Let's dispense with some heresay and deal with facts as they exist regarding what's going on up here.

Yes, companies are not drilling nearly as many wells as they had planned....yet. Everything is dependant upon being able to procure the equipment and manpower to do the job. The washout rate is high, due to not only weather conditions (which this winter are absolutely a non-factor) but the physical nature of the work. The spartan nature of life up here when it comes to simple things like a shower or nice quiet place to take a crap gets to some. Same with drivers. I've only been here a couple of months and have seen people come and go, even with the nice winter weather we've had up here this year. Slower expansion in many ways is a good thing, not bad, if for no other reason than to let the oil companies and servicing companies come to grips with housing and other infrastructure issues.

As for Halliburton pulling the plug on some projects, haven't heard and quite frankly don't care. They're the JB Hunt/Schneider/Swift/Werner of the oil field. Their well sites are the dirtiest, their equipment the shabbiest. There's a whole host of other oil field service companies that are better and quite frankly more desirable than Halliburton. Sanjel, CalFrac, Weatherford, CCS Midstream to name a few. I would find it hard to believe they'd pull out of the Bakken play considering they just finished a huge building project involving multiple buildings (word is a $7 million price tag) on the SE side of Williston. But, even if they did, no big deal as far as I'm concerned. Word is that the jobs Schneider is advertising up here are primarily for Halliburton, they don't want to deal with the recruiting headaches trying to hire drivers. Again, that's a rumor, but not at all hard to believe.

Quite frankly, I like hearing all the people downplaying what is going on up here, maybe you'll scare off enough folks this won't be ruined like every other segment of the industry quite as quickly. I'm really getting used to $6/mi. revenue with half the fuel cost of OTR.

OK, welll first off I would like to thank all of you who posted on this thread which started out as a cry for help, and has ended up yielding results! UPDATE>>>>>

I have FINALLY found some options on trailers through dauntless phone calls, google searches.....and a bit of Divine Providence!

Just to let any off you know who are also looking for small to medium cube pneumatic trailers, Kraft Tanks out of KC, MO are great! They are very helpful and insightful. And best of all, they had trailers! And I bought two. i would recommend Kraft Tanks to anyone looking for a pneumatic trailer.

Also may have found someone to build trailers for me as well. Cannot divulge my source at this time but I will update as soon as I can.

For those of you out there chomping at the bit to get your hands on a pneumatic sand tanker, they key is diligence and perseverance. I will grant you, this process is dauntless and time consuming, but if you stay focused and keep searching, you will find what your looking for (without paying an arm and a leg). In the last week I have spent no less than 20-30 hours on the phone and internet searching for these trailers...(remember, I said in my original post that failure was not an option?)

Once again, thanks to all who put their two cents in. You guys were a pivotal part in my quest for trailers! I will update again when I take delivery, and continue to rate my experience with Kraft Tanks as it evolves.
