i've got two rotating lights from harbor freight i was thinking about mounting on the mirrors.
i don't have a headache rack yet. and no other way to really mount something.
i've got one of them lights with two rotaters. i was thinking of having that sit on top of my ladder sitting behind the cab.
for the trailer i bought two tow light kits from harbor freight. swapped the lens so one is red on both sides. the other is amber on both sides. and some rolls of that thin metal wire. (can't think of the name)
last o/s i hauled was 9ft. wide. from colorado. company screwed up and permited the wrong truck. by time i got outta there and into wyoming it was night and scale got lippy with me for not having lights and made a fit about dropping the trailer so i could head into town for some lights.
i said "you don't want me to leave without lights. and you don't want me to stay so i can pick up some lights. MAKE UP YER F ' ING MIND

buy good lights or your cb will be squawking intime to the light.
-
This only happens if your running strobes. Rotating beacons have no effect on your cb whatsoever.kwloo Thanks this.

Well I had some rotating ones that were so noisy in the radio. That was years ago though.
Have LED bar on the trk. and 4 strobes on the rear of my trl. -
If you are having radio interference, try running a few loops of the power cord for the lights through a Ferrite Toroid (like this http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=63R5859&CMP=AFC-GB100000001)
If you are still having static, try also looping your CB antenna cord though another Toroid. -
RFI from motors (as in the motor that rotates beacon) is cured by adding capacitors from the leads to the can. Google RFI and radio controlled models. Those RC model guys have the info on capacitors and where to solder them. I've done this to two motors and got rid of CB noise. Just can't remember the details so look it up yourself.
Headache racks vibrate the crap out of lights mounted on them. Better to put them on the truck body. -
Also, FWIW, I don't know if it's still law in Florida, for those of you that run here, Strobes and technically LEDs aren't legal, the FSS states only rotating becons unless LEO/FF/EMS etc. I will see if I can find the statue, this work computer isn't agreeing with me tonight.
I spoke with several supervisors with FHP about this a few years ago, when some idiot hit a wrecker i was working with, saying our strobes blinded him.
Actually, I think they finally changed the wording

What type of truck do you have? If it is a class 8 tractor make a bracket that will bolt to your mirror bracket and use U bolts, or mount them on the side of the truck above the rear of the sleeper.

Z brackets.

Since gone to strobes to ease the power requirements, with LED's on the trailer. BTW, Ziegler (Cat dealer in midwest) has the LED strobe lights for under $100! Just bought a pair after the strobe bulbs took a crap, again.
Here are the brackets at Iowa80, but can be had LOT cheaper elsewhere.
