This storm is a doozy!! I'll run out of the snow for an hour, stop for 5 minutes, and it's already caught back up to me! I really didn't have any issues coming across 80 though. They do a pretty good job salting up here. Just one minor accident where a box truck ran off the road in IN.

Made it to Youngstown TA tonight...mainly because Stevens told me to stage here for a repower tomorrow since I'm 2 days ahead on this load. With the forecasted 7" of snow here tonight (and it's already well on its way to that,) I see a weather shutdown in my near future...and with that jackknife that just happened in IL, safety is going to be trigger happy as it is. I guess we'll see in the morning.

You guys be safe out there. It's gonna be a nasty night!

Just sat and watched the weather channel while having sex in Dennys here in Tucumcari (I got screwed at Dennys!)
Holy Moly...You poor guys up there are being dumped on! What did we all do to p off mother nature like this?!
And another is right behind it.
Heavy rains in mid Cali all the way north into Canada, snow in all the mountains, raging fires whipped by high winds in Reno, to be followed by snow...
If I was ever glad to be going to LA, this is the time.
There is a lot of freight in the upper midwest that won't be moving for the next couple days.
Too bad we don't get Weather Pay.
TL...don't go on weather shutdown. Maybe you can get some layover pay out of this.
Clegg... You'll have to wrestle with Pat on that one. I replaced one battery to get me going and I ended up eating that one.
    But you have to live.
Flight...find a cozy spot and be ready to sit.

The training staff will remind you about this four or five times in the first two days. One classmate of mine asked if it meant he can't drink while on vacation with his family at Disneyland if he lives in, say, Wyoming. The answer? If you get caught drinking away from your home, you will get fired. Period. They are VERY serious about it.

I would jot advise buying the bigger batteries from TA... they charge you like $140-$160 each plus labor to install. The batteries you have in there from Stevens will only cost you $54 each and 1/2 hour labor for them to change. I used those same batteries from TA, the bigger ones not once but twice and the cheap Stevens batteries outlasted them both times.
On another note I upgraded batteries to the Optima marine grade blue ones for $160 each and they have a 3 year no questions warranty. Go for the cheapies, they will last a year or so and make sure your APU alternater is charging. People have been know to swap those out with the refers. Same alternater.

That is incorrect. That's not what he's saying. He is saying do what you can legally do to help, but in any event.... CYA, because no one is going to do it for you. Stevens most certainly Covers theirs first and foremost, and you have to play the game sometimes.

If you are on time off and home or vacation your truck is secured and you are no where near it, by all means get sauced.....

Can anyone advise me on a situation.

I'm planning on, as of right now, coming to Stevens Transport Academy in Dallas in May if I can get in there in time. Problem is, my fiancee is expecting our first son or daughter in July. Would Stevens Transport likely work with me to get me home to see their birth in July, or would this be something better spoken with about to a recruiter?

I've heard a few say not even to go for trucking because I'll miss a lot of firsts, but with the weak job market around where I reside, trucking will be the only way right now to provide for them since I'm a full-time student and am unemployed. :biggrin_2552:
