Nice anchors you have had.... I still have mine.... I swear one day hoarders are going to show up at my place.... Presently I have just gotten married last june. Please do not laugh at my baby.... But this is a barn find... Exact date it went into it is unknown...owner is unknown... was in there when the property owner bought the property.... I got it with the intentions of restoring it but after bringing Frankenstein's wife up on variac... to my surprise she was working with beautiful reception.... So I changed a few caps for precautionary measures/ changed power cords. And that is it... I could not bring myself to change anything else due to she has survived in this conditions many years before me.....

No working gauges etc etc.... Just only working knobs and a ear to tune is all we have to work with.......
On to what separates the men from the boys

Yes that is the original 400zs in it. Only 200 hours on them when I got it. I pulled them just in case/Which is very rare... If I sell it... They would go back in to keep the originality of the amp.
On to a current project ongoing/forever.... building a 4 tuber home brew

Onto a plate modulated mobile going into transistors

I had to use a black kat JB75a to bring the drive up enough to key my transistor amps

Nice collection you have there. I've heard those Tram D201's have a sound all their own.

I saw one of those Viking Rangers on the internet a few days ago. If I remember right they were made when the 11 meter citizens band was still an amateur radio band. Which if I'm not mistaken, would allow you on all of the HF bands from 10 to 160, excluing 60 M, but including 11 M...albeit no longer legal to use on 11 M.

The E.F. Johnson did not include 30,17 or 12 meters, but of course you know they were not amateur bands back then.

Turbo.... That is not a 201. It is a 201A in a 201 frame. And yes they have a sound on their own. But it is still not the elusive hand wired version that I seek.. That is a whole different other creature with a sweet sound. But unfortunately when one shows up on line. That beast goes outrageously high due to the demand of it... I have seen instances of 800+ on the prices.

On to my johnson's. Let's be realistic about illegal on 11 meters. If you own any radio that has been peaked and tuned.... illegal to use on 11 meters (Even if it has been tuned properly). If it has been cut back to run a amplifier.... illegal when you kick the amp on. You going past 12 watts? illegal...
Even with the johnson's that I have.... still not what I also seek.... Collins.

I am willing to bet at least 1/2 if not 3/4 people that look at these transmitters would not have a clue on what kind of work it is to transmit on them.
Now true he could have placed a sampler in on key circuit to shut down the receiver to stop a couple step..... But it will give you a idea of running transmitter/receiver combination.... On the johnson I have... you have to turn a knob to transmit. With key circuit in it will kill the power to the receiver. I am placing this video for you all to see. And BTW this is a very well restored transmitter.

Here is a watergate of a Johnson that I had gotten off channel 6 Mr Radio and Big Thunder No Numbers
I love the VFO Drift on keyup. Now please not this was my first direct feed attempt... I had the audio going into my voice recorder to hot... also had a mono plug hooked up. I discovered that the voice recorder has a stereo plug... So I had to solder a new plug to it and I also changed the potentiometer to where I have more control on the line levels coming in. Bear in mind that I am mobile when I transmit... (I very seldom stop while I am talking)
