Sometimes they do Klown. They have hiring freezes in certain areas of Fl from time to time because they don't have enough freight to get drivers home. Check back with them from time to time if you want to drive for them.

    Klown Thanks this.

Me knowledgable :biggrin_25524: uh ok :biggrin_2559: I can just relate what's been happening with us, and what we've done.. Thanks for the vote of confidence though :biggrin_25514:

One thing we have done, which many in the class I went through with haven't done is stick it out for almost a year. We are still planning to continue with Central and so far so good... I do tend to read more than I post sometimes though, but I'll try to change that some :yes2557:

Lucky me I make more than that :)

OK for those of you worried about me leasing a truck. you can stop worrying.. I am staying company.. If anything to prove that one can last more that a few months without leasing...

So far I am on month 14 and not straving yet, though the normal slowdown this time of the year is what really made me realize not to be stupid..

    Well I found you/it... :biggrin_25523:

Not sure if it's regular practice, or they were just desperate but Central rented us a truck to pull this load with :yes2557:

It's a win/win ... They get their load to market on time and we are running while our truck is in the shop :biggrin_25519:

I'm not sure if they would do this for a 'company' driver that's not dedicated. I think it was BECAUSE we were dedicated and they didn't have such a large pool to draw from. Either way we are now in FL while our truck is in AZ :biggrin_25523:

hey lady k how many miles do you guys get? i'm thinking about teaming w/ a classmate (we're both doing otr training right now), do you guys recommend it or not? the only reason i would NOT team is if the pay is a lot less than going solo (i know it's split pay)

A lot of it depends on your DM... when we were out of Fontana and had a 'regular' DM we were getting about 3500/wk... now we are on a 'dedicated fleet' and are getting about 4500 on average. We would like more (needless to say) but we are giving this new fleet a couple months to see how they work out.

It works out OK $$ for us, because the whole amount is going into the same pocket... if you team with a friend, then you would have to split the money coming into the truck. (Central gave us both a paycheck when we were company drivers) (but you also said you knew this - LOL)

So it really depends on the number of miles you guys can do as a team (and that they give you) if it would work out money wise for you guys or not.

Also remember, you will be living in a SMALL walk in closet with your team memeber - make sure it is someone that you can tolarate!! (or be very good at hiding a body - LOL)
