    Kinda sad.
25yr. old gonna turn 26 in Oct.

I passes the Writen test's.(sweet) I just need the HAZMAT and Road Test.

But, I was young and stupid I guess, I have a Body Shop, and I was always driving cars from the dealer ships to my shop and got caught with no insuarance and speeding 2 times, around 3-4 yrs. ago.Well I paid the tickects but****** I didnt pay my surecharges,so they suspended my license,I got it back reinstated.

So total I have 3 no insuarance violations///
    2 speeding tickets.(3or 4yrs. ago)
    2 driving with no license.

I passed the test today, but the lady in the front desk totally scared me,
she was like your applying for a CDL.

    Am I completly screwed.....HELP!!!!!Man I feel like a ##*&^&* dum ***.

I been around guys that have had DWI's, and are still driving, others that have had some scary crashes.

Am I screwed or can I make it.My uncle still says it is all ok, but im kinda getting mixed feelings.

If anybody here has some good experience with this please help me....show me the light.

speeding was no more than 5 miles over the speed limit.

and I did drive(when I went to pick up cars at the dealerships) with out a good license.

    ahhhhh!!!:biggrin_2553:

Unfortunately it's all up to the insurance companies in your case. Try the big guys, if they say no, then you'll have no luck I'm affraid.

An owner/operator might hire you for an extra truck, but he still has to live with the acceptance/denial of the company he has that truck leased on with. An owner with his own authority might hire you, but that can be a scary proposition unless you know they won't rip you off.

I Have Been Driving For A Few Years Now And The Best Thing I Can Honestly Tell You Is To Forget Driving With That Many Violations On Your Driving Record Your Going To Have One Hell Of A Time Finding A Job. You Can Try And See But Most Companies Wont Take You With License Suspensions In The Last 5 Years And Driving On A Suspended License Your Doomed Hate To Tell U That But I Had A License Suspension From A Dui 9 Years Ago And That Hurt My Chances Of Getting A Job

Time heals a damaged CDL/License. Companies are looking at a 5yr window. They will usually tolerate a couple (2-3) within that time frame. Most of the big guys all use the same standard. Sometimes a smaller company will have different standards, it may take some looking, but all is not lost. Some use a point system, and you might squeak by with that. Often if you come into a company on the edge, a single mishap can put you over the limit, and they will send you packing down the road. The termination for safety reasons can make it very hard to secure new employment. So it may be worth waiting a little longer until some of those things have grown hair and then pursue it. In the meantime, DONT get anything new. You may try working for a temp/rent-a-driver outfit like TransForce, or a small company that uses their own drivers to shuttle stuff from warehouse to warehouse. It will be day work, not OTR.

Understand that companies are setting high standards because there have been a number of lawsuits against shippers for damages suffered when a truck driven by the company they hire to transport their products was involved in an accident, some with fatalities. The courts held that the shipper failed to exercise due diligence in contracting a 'quality' provider to perform a service on their behalf. Shippers are paying close attention to a company's safety record and moving business away from trucking firms with poor records. Cheap freight isnt cheap anymore when you have to pay higher insurance costs to cover the acts of others.

Next to labor, maintenance, and capital replacement (that is new trucks and trailers) insurance is their biggest cost. Companies can control that cost to some degree, buy setting high driver standards. The big guys have to walk a fine line between hiring only the best drivers and having enough drivers on the road to meet their customers needs. Every companies operating environment is a little different and that is why it is possible to find companies that will hire you with a marginal driving record. It will just take work to find the right place.

Once you are driving somewhere, be especially careful -- NO new incidents, accidents, or violations. Do that for at least 6mos, a year is better and you will find a great many doors will now be open.

Good Luck, and read some of the other threads about protecting your CDL and repairing a damaged CDL.

Thanks man, I was kinda feeling a little on the down side.

Im driving like my grandma,I will be careful on the road, city driving.Im all for it,I will be taking the road test next week. And I will try to get something along that line of work, I dont care if I have to start from the bottom.Like you say probably in 1 yr. my license will heal a little. And I can find a good job,I am tired of the Body Shop, and I want to be able to ride the roads.

I'm leaving with one of my cousins right know to El Paso,Tx. he has 5 trailers leased to a company, they move containers thats were I have gotten most of my experience.Atleast I will be able to feel the road and the brezzze.

I love does truck stops!coffe rushes and my cinnamon rolls..!

thanks again for all the info.

One day I will see you felas out there!

    bye
