Guys... I just want to say THANK YOU for all your advices and concerns... It really means a lot to me.... I think what I would do is go back to a certified school and do the hole nine yards again before I go to OTR, I was thinking that OTR will be better for me since I was looking for a local trucking job and haven't have any luck. I will put OTR as my plan B and just go and find some local and when my kids are all grown I will contact Stevens, but it's true what you guys are saying about missing all the "first" of your kids. It would be very hard for me not watching my kids grow up and I know It would be very very hard for them and my wife not to see me there every day. I will go back to school if I can and try with them to look for a local job. Once again guys I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help and advice, you guys made me open my eyes.... Also I want to wish you all the best and please be safe out there, I still going to read this thread. It's very instructive for me, I will keep you guys posted of what's going on with me... Once again THANK YOU..... :biggrin_25525:

So you could pay $69.00 a week and have the schooling paid off in the first year?

Got finished up with this load tonight, So here I sit again. Since last Monday (the last time I Transflo'd,) I ran 2030 miles. I ran less than 400 miles on 5 of those days, and 2 of those days were sitting waiting for loads. This week has by far been my worst week on Alliance. And to add to that...

I have not had a paycheck in the positive since Dec. 27.

And they say you can make money at this...

@Dieselten Honestly, a few pages back, it was explained to me that you earn $0.85 cents per mile in Alliance, HOWEVER, after all of the deductions that is taken out, you'll be lucky to see $0.33 cents per mile.

Thanks for the info Infamous. Well doing calculations.... Ummmm!! 669.90 per week is not that bad.... Let's put what Flightwatch drove this week 2030 miles x .33cpm = 669.90 after deductions.... Not bad!!!! I think!!!!! :biggrin_2556:

What are you counting as deductions???? Truck lease payment, insurance payments, APU lease payment, QC use, Transflo use, fuel cost, maintenance acct deduction, time off acct deduction, school loan deduction, etc, etc, etc. Clearing $0.33 cpm comes after you reach the 'break even' point on miles which is usually around 1800 miles. Flight will be lucky to clear more than $150-$200.

You can try to work with your DM to get more miles, but each DM has about 60 trucks on his or her fleet to work with on a daily basis, making sure that drivers have enough hours to get their load delivered, making sure that they have all the safety 'talks' (weather, high security, high value, etc), making sure they get back to Dallas on their 90 day schedule, making sure they get their time-off as close to when they need it as possible. The people that are really in charge of your miles are the planners and dispatchers. And they really don't care about how many miles you are getting on a weekly basis, all they are concerned with is that the loads they are in charge of get picked up and delivered when they are supposed to safely.

Any word from insurance on when CRST will come through with your $$$? My hubby was hit by a driver from a very small company when I was in Dallas at Stevens school, unfortunately the way the company owner had things set up, his trailers and tractors were covered by separate companies. Since technically the trailer hit our truck (the guy was backing up) neither company wanted to pay up. Took several months for it to be settled, then we had to wait til we were back on the yard to get the check.

Moneywise we are in a similar 'boat'. On the yard in early to mid-Dec, (swapped trucks so it took nearly a week), hubby was put on med hold for blood sugar so I ran solo for a week, my sister went on hospice care so we had to take emergency time off (12 days), got back on road Jan 7, had to run solo from Tenn back to Dallas. Got our 1st positive check Last week, slightly over $400 since mid-Dec.
