Didnt know where else to put this thread. We have a few tractors at work with these ridiculous air line covers on them. It essentially turns the last foot of the airlines into a pipe, making it nearly impossible to get them to stay hooked up to the trailer......It is an awful design. All the drivers and mechanics hate it, but they wont switch them out, and a driver could be fired for doing so.

Basically, you have to take both airlines and stretch them by hand before hooking to any trailer. If you dont, you wont even be able to hook them up. They will pop right off. Ive had the service line fall off while driving because of this #### design.

If you dont keep stretching them, you literally cant even hook them up. See how the service line is starting to go up like its gonna pop off? Thats what happens. I even stretched that line and still couldnt get it to stay on all the way.

Can somebody tell me why people take designs there are nothing wrong with and modify them?

If it aint broke, dont fix it!

I have the red and blue covers on mine but they're only about 1/3 of the length of that mess!

I like them but that mess you're dealing with is pretty stupid if you ask me.

I'd put some zip ties on the glad hands after you've connected the lines to the trailer and then pull out from under the wagon and stretch the lines out real good.

Make sure the glad hands are secured really good.

We had them at the last co I pulled vans for, and I mean that literally. If you're stuck with them, get creative with a bungie cord. Tie them down where they can't move in the direction to pop off. Or you could put together a couple lines with glad hands on each end and just carry them around with you.

The thing is, I might hook 10 trailers a day as an LTL driver. It gets to be a real pain in the ###.

You should only have to stretch them lines once or twice a day.

Problem is there is two sets of handles in that picture that top set with the knurling needs to come off and they would be great. I think I would just take them off and give them to my boss and tell him if he didn't like that maybe he should drive my truck. I suppose that is the reason that I haven't ever been able to work for anyone but myself.

I'd have to agree with haulhand.

I've worked for some hard ##### in the past, but no one so hard headed they'd cause a safety issue like that. All it'd take is one right turn too tight and that supply line would pop right off and you're blocking an intersection.
