I, for one, am glad you are "hiring" (ahem) for other companies. I really hope that the other companies grow, and need you to "Hire" more drivers. After all, it can't be all that bad, and the end result is very promising.

For every driver that you "Hire" for a different company, that's one less driver that who drives for JB.....and believe it or not, that can only be a good thing.

Well, I consider it Hiring when I speak to someone, offer them a position that is available, Read them verbatim off the paper what that position entails (OTR, Regional, Local, Touch Freight, etc etc.)

And believe it or not, you're right cluggy. I think a couple people are shocked though when I try to explain to them how it works though...Where drivers usually ask "Is This J.B. Hunt?" it is Yes and No. Yes, I am paid by J.B. Hunt, No, this position has nothing to do with us.

and Tip, the Main reason i've found that people get rejected is that we can't verify their experience in whatever way the background investigators require (see, there's us recruiters, then there's the application takers, then there's the background investigators.)

Mr. Dude you seem like a straight up guy that is just trying to do his job, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. You say that you recruit for others companies besides JB. What I fail to understand is how you can continue to recruit for a company that treats its drivers so poorly. One look at this board, should tell you that there are BIG problems at JB. Even if you get rid of all the posts that are from people that have never driven for them. They are constantly in the top 3 or 4 on this board. That many drivers can't be wrong. Not only are you doing a disservice to the drivers that you recruit for JB, but you are also damaging your own reputation.
Regardless of how you get them to go to orientation, JB is going to screw them over once they get there.

:biggrin_25510:Funniest thing happened to me yesterday. JB hunt called me on the phone. At first he wouldn't tell me the name of the company he was recruiting for. Well the conversation went on and I told him about my last job and how much money I made per mile etc. He says "I'm with JB hunt".
I said well I'm looking for a dedicated run that get's me home eveyday, drop and hook only. nothing else will work for me.
He couldn't get off that phone fast enough, I just laughed.

My husband just started with JB Hunt 2 weeks ago with a Western Regional Route. So far so good, I guess..He came from Werner at .21 per mile, and now is getting .35 per mile, so I guess we are still thrilled with the difference in the rate per mile.

But you are making me quite concerned about this particular decision...But I can see your point about the recruiters, they were pretty intense and didn't take "no" for an answer. And as soon as he ensnared my husband, did he return my calls when I had questions, of course not.

So I sit here now...with my fingers crossed....:biggrin_25510:

If it looks like a duck, and swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck-then it is probably a #### duck. There's no way that this many people are complaining about JB Hunt if they don't have some real serious issues. I see their jalopies all over Dallas/FtW area. Lots of inter modal too. They work around Alliance BNSF yard. You really have to watch your butt cause they never stop at any of the intersections. People have complained to the FTW police a lot, but nothing is ever done. Guess they will have to kill a load of kids like the gravel haulers did on 114 before anything changes. I know a lot of their drivers speak little or no English. They overrun the 7/11's all around the industrial areas here. These recruiters are just salesman-period. The strong closers make more and are loved by company. The square shooters don't last long.:biggrin_25510: No different than window and siding salesman.

Well, you're a little late FriendlyJeanne, but better late than never. Just keep a good attitude and don't worry about this too much. He's already there, so you have to make the best of the decision.

If your husband is given static at Jobby, he can find a better job out there soon enough, as long as he keeps his driving record clean.

Another lightbulb has just come on. Congratulations. Many more have to come on, though. One enters a theater he sees people running out of at high speed at his own grave risk. But there are stubborn souls who do just that at these rotten companies. They rush in without taking anyone's advice or looking at certain clues and, no surprise, get burned.

    Follow the herd.
