So anyhow, since I last posted here, I have been practicing at the backing. However when I attempted my skills test again, I failed because of too many pullups on the 90 degree dock back. I did pass the pre trip portion and according to the guy who took us to the site, that is supposedly the toughest part. My problem is my employer is under the impression that everyone should pass on the first try. I am sure this is possible with adequate training however anytime they let me go out to work it was never in a tractor/trailer combo, just a bobtail. you can't get a class a in that and they know it. I did some checking and there are several trucking schools in Oklahoma. The closest one to me is at the technology center in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. The cost is 2400.00 and there is no type of financial aid. The other option I looked into was a company that finds trucking companies who will pay for your training. The main company was USA truck. I don't really know about them too much other than you are under contract for a period of time. Any suggestions from the experienced drivers out there?
A good truck driving school

Well, if you can afford to rent a room in another state, then you could try schools in Arkansas and Lousiana. Im not from OK, so can't speak about any schools there. Good luck!!

You're only about 3 hours away from Central Tech at Drumright. It's the best school in the state and well worth attending if you really want to be trained right. It is about the same price as Fort Cobb and has a really good practice course and great instructors. The price includes everything but food. They have a setup with some apartments down town where they'll put you up during the week and you go home weekends if you want to. It's not fancy but it's very convenient.

I would check out the listings from PTDI Professional truck driving institution.
They have the highest standards.
Also would study and pass the learners before going. This way you will learn more at the school. -
There is a Roadmaster's Drivers School in Tulsa. They are kind of high priced, but have great reviews and there is financing available. It only takes three weeks also. That is a big part of my own decision.

I'm getting ready to attend American Truck Driving, Inc in Lawton, OK. They charge $2500.00 for a 4 week course, has anyone heard anything about this school?
