Typical CAT water pump>the impellor shaft seal is telling you it's time!
-
i've had some seep forever and some fail in a day. its a sign to get ready to replace it.
-
dont ya know cats HATE water...???
-
It normal to see residue around the hole ( its a breather).. however it fluid starts coming out its toast.
-
The other thing to not do, is plug that hole. It will push coolant into the crankcase. CAT used to have a sponge in the weepholes to keep dirt out and operators thought if I just plug it it won't leak. NOT good.

It's like a streak marks around it no puddles on the ground

A CAT waterpump is designed to leak a little. As long as it don't hit the ground your good.

good to know thanks

Its a cold water leak and when it warms up it gets sealed off. Mine leaked like that for a year before the 5 year 500000 mile warranty ran out, but it would never leak while at a Cat shop. A leak is a leak and if they would have seen it leak I could have gotten a new pump.
When my water to oil cooler dump water into the trans I removed the cooler and pluged the lines and when the radiator was filled and the truck started the pump leaked like a sieve.
