i have a isx cummins and the wastegate actuator is leaking air real bad , before i replace that thing , i was wondering what would happen if i just remove it completely . plug up the air line and open the wastegate manually and leave it open all the time (secure with a cable or something) , no more actuator. i need opinions please.

because the newer engines have variable turbos and do EGR, the wastegate becomes even more important to handle the pressurized air, and decide where it goes or is not needed.
Just be happy you have a ISX and you can just replace it, on other engines they force you to replace the entire turbo!$$$muthatrucker Thanks this. -

what happens if i dont have the new one calibrated , just install and go ?

The air operated ones don't/can't be calibrated, just bolt it on. The 2007 and newer engines are electric controlled those have to be timed/calibrated. Hope this helps.
