I got a call today from Kim in driver compliance. She wanted to make sure i knew i needed to pay the bail amount on a speeding ticket im having Driver's Legal fight for me ( i already paid it ). She said she knew i did'nt work there anymore but wanted to make sure i was aware of this so it would'nt cause me problems. As you all know things did'nt work out for me at JCT, but i thought this was a nice gesture and should be shared with yall'. Good luck everybody, be safe.
Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Just as a note of keeping all informed...
I am putting everything on a "hold" status. It's my decision on this, not JCT's. As you know, I am approved, and they want me to schedule orientation. But... they have simply not satisfied 8 questions I have. They are supposed to get back with me, but haven't heard from them now for 2 days. I will keep y'all informed......
However, I'm probably staying with the best company I've ever been with! I was just wanting to one day own my own truck. But, with the economic situation we're facing in this nation, as well as the world, it may be prudent to take a "wait and see" approach....Last edited: Jan 25, 2012

This is the worst time of year to be doing this. Starting out makes it even harder. I would recommend JCT to anyone with a work ethic (well, except stay far away from their shop) but I'd say wait til mid to late Feb if you can.

Doctor says I have to drink about a quarter ounce of Windex a day. I have this problem where I like to get naked and run around in public. The Windex prevents me from streaking. (Ba-dump, bump--haaa-cha-cha-chaaa! Thank yew, thank yew, I'm here all week)

Now I've heard it all!!! LOL!!!!
That was good driver... thanks! -
Have heard that sixteen JCT drivers have abandoned their trucks this month...don't know if it is true but if so am willing to bet it has to do with how hard it is to get detention (impossible if you're held up at Tyson). Have lost a day waiting for a "preloaded" trailer. Happens every time I go to Tyson...our biggest customer.
-
Yup, don't expect to get detention very often! Only under certain circumstances will they approve it. But we hardly sit so it doesn't really matter

Alan,
I respect you because you are the one with 1,000,000 miles (if I'm not mistaken) with JCT and have been there and done that. However, if the Contract states something, then by gum, by golly... it needs to be adhered to! Detention IS in the Contract, and cannot be denied. You all could force the issue.
First instance...
"2(c). Detention Compensation. Sixty percent (60%) of all detention and layover charge revenue that CARRIER both bills and collects from CARRIERs customers related to the detention of CONTRACTORs driver and tractor. CONTRACTOR shall not receive any compensation related to trailer detention charge revenue."
Second...
"10. SETTLEMENT PERIOD AND DOCUMENT REVIEW.
10(a). CARRIER shall pay the required compensation to CONTRACTOR within fifteen (15) calendar days after submission to CARRIER of properly-completed driver logs required by DOT, all cash-on-delivery ("C.O.D.) payments from shippers pursuant to Section 16 below, and those documents necessary for CARRIER to secure payment from the shipper, including bill of lading signed by consignee (provided that CONTRACTOR need not submit a bill of lading to which no exceptions have been taken), freight bill, detention ticket signed by consignee and filled out with cause of delay and specific times in and out, and detention ticket with authority-tounload-section signed by consignee, and any specific documents required by the shipper (collectively "Trip Documents")."
And...
"In addition, after completion of each trip in the service of CARRIER, CONTRACTOR shall submit to CARRIER all fuel purchase receipts; any mileage reports or damage reports; state or federal inspection reports;
accident reports; driver daily vehicle condition reports; weight slips; trip manifests; toll receipts; detention documents; expense tickets, including receipts for tolls reimbursable pursuant to Attachment A, and any other reports required by governmental regulation. To expedite
CARRIER reimbursement, CONTRACTOR is encouraged, but not required, to include expense receipts for all expenses authorized by CARRIER in Trip Documents."
There is more... but you get the point....Alanp613 Thanks this. -
Doc W what you posted says the driver gets 60% of what is billed and collected and that is the key. A lot of carriers do not bill the customer for detention because they don't want to tick off the customer and lose the business. If the carrier's drivers just accept it then most likely it don't affect the carrier much. If they are not getting detained much then it don't matter. That is one thing I like about my carrier is I get $35.00 an hour after 2 hours regardless if they bill the customer or collect what they billed them.
