All in all the answer is so obvious! Take the papers to your lawyer, pay him 100 bucks to look it over, then YOU decide what you're going to do....REMEMBER....you're only going to get screwed if you let them do it to you!

 

I am sorry to say, but I agree that he is not a good businssman. When you borrow, or go in debt for such large sums, better have good lawyer to go over every inch of paperwork. It is your duty to constantly review gains-losses in your lease and business venture. Also, what is wrong with purchasing a used truck? Does everyone have to drive a $100,000 truck? Someone stated what I agree with, in that you could have purchased a 10 year old truck and leased on with other companies and came out ahead. I have always put money away for rainy days, and anyone in business should understand that the industry can always have down-turns where you won't make as much. I have read many such stories about drivers who lease-purchase from Prime, and go under, only because they did not understand the contract. Do you think that Prime has not enlisted lawyers and accountants to cover every inch of their contracts to insure that they come out on top? I look at it this way, if you can't purchase a good used truck for $30,000 or less, and lease it on with a decent company-than they don't need you and they won't be fare with you. If not-than I would just be a company driver.

 

Why, if you are implying, do owner-operators deserve dispatch over compnay drivers? This is something I detest hearing. We are all out to make money. But I must say, this is also the attitude of companies, for which reason I will not be a company driver that has owner operators or teams. I had head so many complaints from owner operators asking "Why do I have to deliver this, this is for company divers?" This was from an owner operator lady who thought she was supposed to run from Virgina to Calif and back, and drop her deliveries on the yard for us company drivers to deliver. Also, in my time with this company, I would spend 6 hours loading a load, drag it to our nearest drop yard, and be told a team or owner operator was coming in to get it. Then, I would go load my load that was usually under 600 miles. The point is, this guy complains about company drivers getting long miles and west-coast frieght. I hate when teams and owner operators think they deserve better freight than company drivers. Now, please don't think I hate all teams and owner opeators as I am not that self-centered. But company drivers are drivers-just like everyone else. Thank you.

 

Excuse me if I may: We don't use 'haven't ever' together. You must say: I 'have never'. Ever means from a time in the past up to present. Never is an adverb of frequency, and expresses how often something happens.

Worldtrvlr, you are wrong about HeavyDude's grammar. It's called Present Perfect Tense used in a negative statement and is well within the proper usage of the English language.

The words we do not use together are any negative connotation and "never," as this would create a double negative, such as "haven't never." However, this is not what HD said. His usage and grammar are correct.

Idk much. I'm swift driver. During ok. 1 year in,still here. U know something at swift I do see lot of owner op turn in there truck but at the same time made me realize why they fail. I thinks they picky on a load and complaint a lot and they like to sit on the driverloung area a lot and talk about how swift this and that. "don't bite the hand that feed you" But I see other work hard and they made it. So far.....but for me I will never want to be owner op cause too much stuff to deal with. I'm just here to drive.... But for you whom do want to. Best of luck
