    Also, how are the Contractors aware if detention was collected, or not. Not saying that JCT is doing that, not at all. What I am saying, however, is... as an L/O, or O/O, there MUST be a way of knowing what has been charged. Ask any Independent... they will tell you that they know all charges to the customer and therefore know what their "take" is. Nope... sorry. This contract has a lot to be desired in so many areas. That's a sad, true fact. :biggrin_25513:

    There is no way to know, you send a message to your DM requesting dention pay. Then they forward it on to the planners ( or so they say ), then you hear nothing else. I sat 19 hours in Logansport, IN Tyson once for JCT, then another 6 hours at the consingee waiting to get unloaded, never say a penny of detention pay.:biggrin_25513:

    Do u have to be logged in as on duty to get detention pay. those hours lost on your 70 hrs might pay better driving. I'm just sayin'

    If it's like my company, then yes... we must log it as "On Duty Not Driving". However, think about it. As for us, our company pays us our "hourly" wage that equals to the same amount that we would make if we drove 60 miles in an hours time. We don't get paid for the first part of detention, but the hours after our initial "free" time, is paid. So, let's say (a real case scenario that happened to me):
    You get to the consignee and because of a breakdown at the plant, it put them behind, big time! I was detained for a total of 18 hrs. I received pay for all but 4 hrs of it! So, that was $252.00. Now, if I would have driven 11 of the 14 that I was paid, I would have only made $198.00. Plus, I took my break within that wait time.
    Scenario 2:
    I was at a plant 2 weeks ago for 12 1/2 hrs. I got paid for 8 1/2 hrs of it, and took my 10 hr break after that time. I lost all of $37.00 on that one by electing to log it correctly, and then take my break, instead of logging it as off duty (which is lying - like we never do on these "coloring books" :biggrin_25525: ) or sleeper berth. It all comes out in the wash, one way or the other.

    Plus, if I have to wait... I want paid! I have learned a long time ago, I am NOT going to drive dead tired (even if I log it so that I get paid for the detention) and then end up going home in a pine box! :biggrin_25524:

    I. Read this thread pretty thouroughly..when time permits....has. elogs hurt anyones miles muchM and realistically how many miles can one expect to see in a week if they are a hardworker? I tam approved to come to orientation and just trying to figure the best truck with nest mpg in which the payment won't be a killer...any advice would be great
