OR/WA/CA do seem like the worst/highest BS states to drive in. Obnoxiously low speed limits. Hair triggers with the chain laws. Nazi chicken coops. In CA's case, about 3x as many highway patrol as you'll see in any other state in the country. (Can't imagine why they have a budget problem...)
All trucks must enter open scales

The Buckeye is pretty bad too. Not as many coops, but a fleet of diesel bears all over the state. They are not shy about "extending" a greeting.

I still cant figure out the split speed laws and what the meaning is behind them...with the way the 4 wheelers drive darting in and out of traffic wouldnt the law makers think that an 80,000 lb slow rolling vehicle is more of a burden then keeping up with traffic so the idiots in cars dont pass on the right or go from the far left lane across 4 lanes of road to make their cutoff cause the truck was going to slow for their impaitent ###... i see why i dont run OR/WA/Il/OH...and i dont run any toll roads anymore...the toll roads have been paid a million times over and they just keep jacking the rates up more and more...No wonder anyone whos been in this business a long time see's the light of whats ahead...
Wargames Thanks this. -
The split speed limit is just another way to generate revenue, its been proven many times over that a single speed freeway is safer than a splt speed limit freeway....They claim it is for 'safety' but anyone thats held a license more than 20 minutes can see past that BS....I still stick by my guns that WA is by far the worst state and OR a close second when it comes to scales...But, to genralize, any split speed limit state is a warning to the truck driver to dot your i's and cross your t's....
Sadly, all I run these days is OR and WA. Thanks to being on the night shift my last ticket was 2008....Thought I could get lucky and make it all the way back to the terminal with a missing mudflap....Yeah, ##### in one hand, wish in the other.... -
the revenue issue takes preference over safety.... sad sad sad...but your right SmoothBore just a sad fact..

if i can avoid the scales and not run too far out of route, i will do just that. im not hiding anything, but i dont want to get a free inspection either. dont have time for that garbage.

I could give ya a route around the Manchester scale. That one's easy to get around, not that I condone that sorta thing mind you.

Regarding split speed limits, IL and OH are no long split speed limit states on the interstates. Indiana has a 70/65 split on the big roads.

If your PREPASS goes red at a closed coupe you had better pull in anyway. I had a deal in Florida where I was run down because the weight master "accidently" had the sign wrong and red lighted me. Now is that not a load of B$ Talk about confused but never again LOL

Ohio only splits its speed limits on non interstate routes. Like US30, OH11, US23, etc... They also raised the speed limit on the turnpike to 70mph.
