If ALL truckers were paid a livable wage for ALL hours worked (plus OVERTIME) HOS rules and On-Board Recorders wouldn't be a problem, because MOST truck drivers would comply with the rules.

We have too many idiots on the roads these days that drive like they "need their airbag!" They don't realize the blind spots or how much harder it is to stop then a 4 x 4! That is pretty much the same way with boats. As my dad always says " if its bigger than you get out of its way"

Wasnt 2006 the safest year for trucking accidents, with the new HOS?

It does sound soo negative against truckers, and seems to ignore that, truckers have to take more tests, get more training, and provide great service at horrible wages.

Only problem is cars will never be held accountable or at fault if there is a way to blame it on a truck. It is one of the reasons we have to carry such large policies. The log book can be legal, the car clearly at fault, but they will blame the truck for some reason. It may be that he was 1 mph over the limit, but it was speeding.
