I tell ya, I'm on quite the learning path. I found out its one month after you pass SQT's not after rec driver # like we were led to believe. I'm set to get mid Feb.

So aside from keeping a written record of your own(which I plan to do anyway) , how do you double check the paid miles they say you ran? Does that figure show up somewhere? Like the miles paid for each load? I could be doing short haul stuff too. Which , depending on distance has its set premium on top of CPM. Or so I'm told.

Mickey I just looked and it says for tuition reimbursement "Payments made each month following 30 days of employment". How long has it been since your last day of orientation when you got your driver number ?

Well, checking your miles would been done by just keeping track of the paid miles, hence, dead head miles and the loaded miles on your pumpkin pad, and then referring back to that when checking your pay statement. I'm kind of lax but I do spot check it.

The miles are rarely, if ever, incorrect. The only issue you will run into is if you have to set up routing points, whether it be they send you to a terminal, or if you are chasing empty trailers all over the place. That's when they have the tendency to not pay you all your miles. Your DBL would have to correct this and set up the appropriate routing points. Otherwise, if everything runs as planned, you'll get all of your miles paid.

When it comes to short haul premium, however, that's something I would check more closely. There is the tendency for short haul rates to be screwed up, although it's correct most of the time. Sometimes I'll get overpaid, other times underpaid. I don't really know exactly what the issue is, but we'll see if workflow changes anything.

Why thanks!! I have wanted to do this for so very long , that I kinda jumped head first without researching as much as I could and getting the input of exp drivers.

So here I am. Like love it or leave it. Going to give it its fair shot. I have ot say, though, I have come across some of the nicest , helpful people in this short week.

I've been here just over a month now and, knock on wood, I can honestly say that I haven't had any problems...from a driver/company standpoint that is. I got the flu last week and then twice in less than a week this week I ended up in some hairy weather and was almost hit by a tornado twice and lightning once.
We are set to convert to WorkFlow on the 28th....so I've been through that class and did the refresher tonight. Seems to be pretty simple.

I have a wonderfully bombtastic DBL! So far she has put in my layover and detention in without me having to say a word about it. My miles have been good as has the resulting pay...I have no complaints. I'm still learning and I still forget bits and pieces here and there...but it looks as though WorkFlow will help with that quite a bit so I'm actually looking forward to the conversion.

Now if I can just get out of this automatic (do. not. say. ONE. word....for the record, I'm ready to KILL this truck...so I don't like it any better than any of you would....) life will be perfect. Going from 4th to 5th, it's like it comes down with instant Alzheimers....what gear? where is it? how do I find it?....leaving me stuttering and coasting at often inconvenient moments. Told the Laredo shop about it and they hooked it up and said they couldn't find a problem. Really? So then why is it now doing it going from 9th to 10th? And, even despite about 5 previous months experience with an automatic...I STILL bounce off the <**> dock like a rubber ball for about 5 minutes before I can get it backed in and settled.
787600 miles....I figure it's gotta go, one way or another, retired or blown, before too much longer. This too shall pass...and I WILL endure...
