So, for those of you go have been following me and are interested, I finally got my W-2 yesterday so now I can schedule my permit test! I've been doing more research lately and I'm kinda concerned about something that I'm hoping you more experienced drivers and million- milers who have been encouraging me can help me out with. I think I've said it before, but I don't have any DUI's or DWI's, no felonies and one speeding ticket from 5 or 6 years ago that I just remembered the other day. I do however have several misdemeanors including filing a false police report 8 or 9 years ago. During my research I've found that ANY deception charge will disqualify you from getting on with a company. (At least it does with Prime, however I haven't talked to any recruiters yet. I'm waiting till I have my whole criminal record in front of me so I can be as honest and accurate as possible). My question is, am I just setting myself up for disappointment by continuing to try to start a career in OTR trucking? Am I better off just letting the dream go and find something else to go for?

Just my opinion, but if everything is 8-9 years in the past and nothing since that time period, you should be fine. Again, this is just my opinion. You will have to be able to articulate the fact that you are a changed person now from the person you were then.

My advice would be to pick up the phone and simply ask the recruiters some questions.

Been quite a few years fellas, not sure if anyone would even be interested anymore but I'm FINALLY going to live the dream. Just heard back from Jim Palmer and I'll be starting April 10!
Having been over 5 years I'd absolutely love to hear back from a lot of you and see how things are going with you.

My bad. Are necro's against the rules, or bad taste or anything? I just remember having some great conversations with these guys and thought it would be fun to see where everyone's been.
Takes me back to "the good ol' days" when people used to be helpful and encouraging on here. Any more it seems as though you'd find more encouragement on the CB. Then again, maybe I've just grown cynical.

Nope. No rules against necros. It's just that it's rarely the OP returning to update their situation.
