Well, how much can happen in one day? Haha! I let Smith know of my intentions and believe it or not, they counter offered. They offered me a spot in their tanker division running water to the gas wells here in PA, WV and soon to be Ohio. It's a lot of hours, but it's close to home, so I'd be home every day unless I had to go out east, but even then, still more home time than I get now. And waaaay more money! So I think I'm gonna do that and stay with these guys. I have no issue with the company as a whole, I was just lookin out for my family and they offered me a way to do that which is awesome!

TB John, you're 100% right. And I apologize for over reacting. I read that first thing this morning and I was cranky from a horrible nights sleep. So for that, I'm sorry and I couldn't agree with you more. And I know tanker is nowhere close to flatbed, but it gets me outside doin stuff more than this van work.

But overall thoughts on Smith, if van or tanker are your thing, this place ain't bad. Keep I'm mind, they're only hiring tanker drivers who live within a 30 mile radios of certain areas containing well sites. So be sure to check with a recruiter to see if your area would work for a tanker spot.

    TB John Thanks this.

Sounds like a winner to me CB! Imagine that, a compay willing to go an extra mile or two for a new employee. Good luck!

Smith has a hell of a nice fleet of water trucks for the wells, just be ready to give a lot of your time, if not your life to that truck, it's not rare to see 80 hour weeks, and although you're home at night what does that really equate to at the end of the day when you're there just long enough to eat, shower, and go to bed. I'm not trying to be negative by any means, but having worked around the natural gas for the last 6 months since moving up from Florida, I'll be the first to say it's nothing that I thought it was going to be, there's no real quality of life within this industry, the money is there but not much time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

    Good deal

I hope things work out for you, I really didn't know they were over this way, but being OTR sometimes you miss whats going on in the neighborhood.

Anyway keep us updated on how things go for you. Good Luck

Yep,,, I agree with you sometimes these local gigs feel like OTR. I used to run tri-axles in Western Pa before going OTR and working 12 to 14 hours days was the norm. There would be days you would get home eat and dozz off in the chair and blink yours eyes and it was next day, so I know what you mean.

Hey,,,, is there a guy name Jeff or Jack, I know it started with a J..... Drove a gold color truck???? Super nice guy, this was back in 2003 to 2004. Older guy in his 60's might be retired by now. We use to ####/chat on the cb coming out of SlipperyRock heading down I-79 allot.

Well if you know him, tell him THE KID in the coal bucket said hi, He'll know who I am. THANKS
