What a shame. I was stuck in this today...well, by stuck, I mean I had to take a 50 mile detour.
I hope that the injured survive, and my prayers go out to the deceased loved ones. -
Is Ohio one of those "kill a worker go to jail" states?
-
Barring any erroneous circumstances, this driver is going to jail.
-
Holy moly! Lucky nothing happened to that load. Bulk transport of corrosive hazmat. Sheesh!
Now. My experience has been that while those Distech guys tend to drive a little fast and slightly aggressive (typical East side drivers) I have yet to meet one who was less than professional or unable to control his vehicle.
The driver was moved from serious to critical. His condition is not getting better. Yes, this happens with pure injuries, too. However, did it occur to anyone that there may be something else going on with this driver? He's 53 years old. Right about the time heart problems previously unknown about present themselves in rather spectacular ways.
I'm not going to pass judgment on this driver just yet. First, because we don't have all the information. Second, because I know what my own experience with the company has been.
Food for thought.
Thoughts for the injured and for the family and friends of the deceased. -
I wonder if there's a report anywhere detailing the percentage of accidents caused by drivers due to health reasons, like heart attack, blood clots etc. It seems that the lifestyle (sitting for long periods, abundance of unhealthy food, smoking, lack of exercise) after many years makes drivers prone to these events....

I'm curious as to why this guy was even on the Turnpike? Akron to Lima via the turnpike makes no sense...
Injun Thanks this. -
I live about 25 miles from where this happened and I was wondering the same thing.

Work zone fatality, This guy is done and probably should be. I wonder how many warning/work zone signs he ignored.
