Don't worry what some people reply to this I think there are a few companies trying to cove their butt on this site.

 

Oh Brother they flat out lied to me and the worse part is they stalled me two weeks before they put me in a truck I lost my butt this year because of these guys. You can't lose a months of wages the time I wasted with them (3 weeks) and the time it took to find another job in this economy. I documented everything and told the saftey manager I planned on making a post on them in here, he said he didn't care...Payday is 6th of Sept and on the 7th look for it. Just want to have the payroll stubb to post or lack of one to complain/warn about.

 

I was talking to one of their long time drivers a few months ago, and he was one of Don's super truckers. The guy didn't realize how bad he was getting it. You know the driver in the truck stop that talk's a hundred miles an hour. And he's gonna be rich some day if he just does what he's told. I actually felt kinda sorry for him when I walked away. I didn't want to mess with his pride. Well I hope things get better for you in years ahead.

 

Sorry to say I worked for Don Garrett but at least it was only a year. The only reason I stayed that long was due to personal reasons, family health issues. Needed to be close to home. That man is a cheat, a liar, and all round bad person to deal with. If you need a job that bad, then have at it. But no one can live on what he pays you, or rather "doesn't" pay you.

 

He is absolutely correct about Don Garrett Trucking in Arlington, Texas! This (man) is such a two faced good actor. He keeps promising things will get better, just hang in there with me. Then your loads and pay gets better for awhile then when you least expect it, it drops off again. Then it's just the same roller coaster over and over. When you decide enough is enough you BETTER LOOK AND FIND A JOB (BEFORE) YOU TELL HIM IF NOT GET READY FOR HIM TO POST LIES ON YOUR DAC REPORT!! The WORST thing a Driver can Do is QUIT UNDER A LOAD, If you want to keep driving.
My husband told the mechanic he was fixing to try and find a better job if things didn't change pretty quick and, BAM, Don comes out AFTER HE WASHED OUT THE TRAILER & GREASED THE FIFTH WHEEL, and asked him what he was doing he told him waiting for a load. Don tells him he won't have to worry about that cause he is fired and clean out his truck. My husband said fine cleaned out his truck and the very next morning @ 10:30:27 AM Don posted on his DAC Report that he Quit Under Dispatch!!
He stuck it out for 6 1/2 years and then this Idiot screws him over like this strictly on whatever the mechanic told him. Didn't even ask my husband just boom your gone. My husband was Never Late Pickng Up or Delivering a Load in 6 1/2 years. No he was not a slow learner or whatever else your thinking, My husband HATES to quit a job and especially since he's up there in age, so now Don has jacked his DAC report with lies so it will make it harder to get a job. It's hard enough these days to find a Good Paying OTR Driving Job without somebody being so FULL of HATRED to falseify crud. I had to stop going to pick up his paycheck because he likes to Yell all the time, so to keep my husband from haveing to listen to it I stopped going because the last time I went to pick up his check (On Payday & @ the Required Time) he starts yelling at me & if the Receptionist had not grabbed me when she did there would have been major trouble. I don't allow anyone to cuss & trash me when I was just there to pickup his paycheck, didn't even speak to him, he comes out like a rageing bull (that needs to be put down). So basicly if you want your wife and yourself to be treated like trash then work for this guy. He refuses to tell you what ur being paid so you never know what your check is. You also have to spend your own time in Ca. driveing around to find the best cash price for pallets and Believe Me If You Don't Leave That CASH from the Pallets for him , He will CALL you Before DAWN SCREAMING WHERE'S MY PALLET MONEY, THATS MONEY I PUT IN MY POCKET FOR SPENDING MONEY!!! So work for this guy at your own risk you have been warned!!!

In the trucking business,there are too many people like you describe. Tell your hubby to hang in there.

 

Thanks I will. It sucks they get to put whatever they want to and then the drivers have to pay $189.00 to TRY to fix it!!
But no doubt we will overcome this. What goes around comes around.

I'm so glad to read that other "long time" Don Garrett drivers are getting the same treatment I got last year. Let me rephrase that, I hate to hear that they are getting the same treatment I did. That man is the biggest liar, cheat and assh**e in the trucking business. Why his customers keep using his trucks is a wonder to me. I'm grateful for a site such as this, just so we can vent, and hopefully keep others from making the same mistake we all did. The only reason I worked for him was failing health, arthritis, and wanting to stay off the east coast and the bad weather. Boy, I sure did pay a price for that decision.

Dac/hireright by law falls under the fair credit reporting act & therefore they must comply with the same rules as a debt collector..which means you the driver have a legal right to dispute any false info a company puts on your dac.
