Maverick has a more in depth physical than the armed forces does!!! If you cant walk and chew gum at the same time don't waste your time!! If you have any back problems...your out! Backbone curves to the left ot right...bye bye!!! They check how far your neck bends with an angle finder. You have to tilt your head left to right as someone holds the little angle finder on your head. Kinda weird. Then you have to lift tarps up and down, and yes you gotta pick up the big huge lumber tarps from the ground to the top of the trailer, and i think you have to do it 3 times? I cant remember. You gotta show em how to get in and out of the truck with 3 points of contact. Walk heal to toe on a beam. Lift weights that almost hit you in your face. Take a urine sample. Guys and girls they will put you through the mill and then some....so if your out of shape...don't do it or you will go home or get sent to a doctor and see if they will medically release you to do the required tasks. Its easy for most but when i went through we started with 18 people the first morning....7 went home immediately after the first 2 hours of the physical!!! Another thing....if you do get hired and of all things to happen you get hurt out on the road...Maverick will make you stay at the Little Rock Terminal until you get cleared by THERE DOCTORS!!!! So if you get hurt i hope you like Arkansas. You will patch tarps, clean trucks, pick up trash, escort people to and from the terminal, just anything to keep you moving while your in recovery. One driver broke his arm....he was at Little Rock for weeks on end!!! Unless they have changed thats what your looking at people. An old super trucker veteran had blown out his shoulder. He was a true hard core truck driving professional. Old man but was a dead look-a-like to Snowman from Smokey and the Bandit. He had to hang around until his shoulder cleared up. So Mavericks doctor cleared him and so then... his is getting tested at the terminal by the physical therapy girl. He had to hold his arms out with his thumbs up with a closed fist while she pushed down on his thumbs to test his resistance and strength. One shoulder (the one that just got better held up just fine) then the other shoulder popped out of place.....guess what....bye bye old man :( I was there when it happened folks. So better not get hurt or your gone. And hope you have one of the 13 different insurabce policies they offer you.

Mr. Fedup, WTH are you talking about? Maverick doesn't begin to compare with the Armed Forces.

    1. Walk and chew gum? Cynical lie.

    2. Agility tests. Establishes baseline. Does NOT disqualify you.

    3. How are you going to tarp a load or stow the tarp if you can't pick a tarp up?

    4. 3 points of contact. Pretty much an industry standard. Demonstrate that you can follow this simple safe rule and you won't be accusing Maverick of not showing you this later when you fall out of the truck and blame Maverick.

    5. Walk heel to toe on a beam. Twelve feet in the air across 6 inch pipes is not the time to find out you have no balance.

    6. Lift the weights properly and your face is never in danger.

    7. Are you afraid of the urinalysis? I absolutely do not want to be on the road or have my children on the road knowing that drug use is unmonitored in the industry.

    8. You are not being put through the mill. You are being tested to see if you have the MINIMUM ability to get started in the profession.

    9. One person in my class failed the physical. Blood in the urine. He is driving for Maverick today after being treated for an infection that could have been deadly had he been allowed to drive. His bus ticket home and his subsequent bus ticket back to NLR were paid for by Maverick.

    10. Maverick headquarters is in North Little Rock. Your house is umpteen miles away. If you can perform light duty functions, you will stay at NLR rent free for the duration or until the minimum time has expired prior to termination. Maverick will then send you home to finish your recuperation. A driver can request reinstatement after being medically cleared and I've seen it done. Pretty standard business in any industry.

    11. If your shoulder pops out of place that easily, you may want to consider a new line of work.

    12. Swift, Werner, and Central Refrigerated have all left messages on your answering machine. Why haven't you called them back yet?

Hey sparkn. Just what is going on with you bub? Can u not read? I will spell it out for you. I was just giving the worst case scenario. So chill, if you worked as hard as your mouth did you would be filthy rich right now. I will do it like a smart arse like you did okay bubby. 1. Walk and chew gum....just a funny reference, guess someome like you cant get the picture, go figure... 2. Agility test...hmmm....uh....yea its a test just like I said. 3. 3 points of contact....unless we all are comete idiots everyone does this, just saying... 4. Tarps, tarps are like people, some r fat and clumbsy, and some r small and easy to lay down...hahahaha 5. Walk on a beam...most people have never ever done this, andmost trailers are...oh let me guess..102 inches oh my I could never walk on top of my load or trailer, what were you doing on top of a load of pipe bub, no one ever show ya how to throw straps? I do my stuff on the ground, spend 80 bucks...they make ladders everyday. 6. Lift weights....in a old wooden box with a broom handle stuck through it up over your head, uh...maybe things were different with your physical bub. 7. Urine sample...why would I mention that....hmmm....probably because some idiots in orientation went to the bar down the road from and brought beer into the hotel....Maverick found out and questioned everybody...guess what...EVERYBODY GOT A PISS TEST....AND AFTER THEY FOUND OUT....WE ALL STILL DONE IT....EVERYDAY JUST TO MAKE SURE NO ALCHYS WERE GONNA SNEEK THROUGH!!! 8. You are being put through the mill!!!! There are few and far between several truck companies that have such an extensive physical. Most companies are like this....pee in this here cup boy/girl....go lift that tarp up and set it on the trailer. Okay heres the keys go make me some money! 9. If I live in say, oklahoma, I get hurt somehow, I have 6 kids and a physco for a husband/wife, why would most people /FAMILY'S want there dad/mom gone from home over a fender bender band aid fix. Then oh its friday at 5 o clock, see ya, vroom vrooooom vvvvrrrrooommmmm for 12 hours to my HOME at 5 in the morning...hey whats up! Shut up im going to bed....then come monday I better be there or else hell fire and brimstone will fall from steve williams bank account. Its a scam! You, me , anybody can and does have the right to be home or go home during an injury, its there way of screwing you, so bend over or leave the maroon boys. 10. I guess you didnt read that Snowman was OLD, and yea he didnt need to be a flatbed driver, door slammer...maybe but shoot far the guy was in the boy scouts with jesus, so yea he needed to hang the keys up. Last but not least...SWIFT said they told YOU to swap loads with a guy...they meant trailers not body fluids!!!!! WERNER called YOU, they found a guy you can really swap loads with...her name is steve. CENTRAL huh, well if you wasn't out picking up dead animals off the side of the road and freezing them to save and eat...you wouldn't have got caught doing the nasty with em ya sicko. I take it you were one of the guys who worked for ARROW. Did they tell you to park there truck and walk away? I remember when that happened bub. So don't insult me, I was just stating the facts. Opinions are like a##holes...everybodys got one but some of em stink. You sound like a Falcon driver turned super trucker overnight. Its people like you that make the rest of us look bad, Mr I park on the island and go grab a subway sandwich while I stick it to everybody waiting. I told the truth bub, rather then feeding them how Maverick is so cool and they wanna rule the worlds lowest freight prices ever recorded in history. Go buy a truck, go to work, when a load pays 4.50 a mile and then 2 months later its 2.50 a mile you will then somewhat understand. Maverick, TMC, PGT will cut each others throat to get the loads, while O/O's get whats left over. So go work for swift, hell if they underbid all the freight...they have all the loads. Most everybody knows when those 3 start showing up your money is going to get tight.

If anybody wants to know anything about Maverick I sugest looking at JIMTHEHUT's thread titled "heading to little rock". It's under the DAC report for companies for Maverick. It is vveeerrrryyyy long but well worth the read. He starts from going to orientation to present-day, something like 2 to 3 years ago. Like I said, very long but well worth the read. Jim is kinda like a celebrity on here he has posted so much. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row and decide on what company to go with. I've narrowed it down to, in no particular order, Maverick, BTC, PGT. GOOD LUCK to everyone and hope this helps. :biggrin_25519:

You may also want to consider TMC. You never know who is going to have to options that suits you best. I know peeps that left Maverick and went to PAM and are happy as can be. Doesn't mean one is better than the other. One was just better fit.
