Things ate great. Love the local / line haul stuff! After my line run I have early am deliveries to in Tracy, stockton, modesto. Once in a while I head up to sac

If you are ever on i-5 between Tracy and lost hills during 2200 and 0400 and see a day cab flying by you, its probably me.
    Lol

Hey Everybody. I was planning on signing up with Central but had a concern with the dot physical. I am over weight according to the BMI. I am trying to lose some the weight but it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get to where I need by when I was planning on starting the training at TDA. My question is regarding the DOT physical. I am 5'11" currently 227 lbs and my BMI is 31.7. I've read that the FMCSA recommends that drivers with a 30 BMI or higher and a 17 inch neck or greater should be required to do a sleep study to determine if you have sleep apnea. I am uninsured and could not possibly afford a sleep study since I am unemployed. Does anyone know if Central follows these "recommended" requirements by the FMCSA? Does the clinic that they use follow these requirements and will only issue a 3 month medical certification in the interim? I'm certain that I don't have sleep apnea and don't want to waste my time and money to have a dot physical done just to find out that I am going to run into the afore mention issues. I joined a gym and go on a pretty regular basis but losing the weight is taking longer than expected even with changing to a healthier diet. I appreciate any help and also any direction to whomever may provide more info. Thanks.

Mmmm can't answer that one... both my husband and myself have had gastric bypass, so BMI wasn't an issue for us. Not sure if it's on the long form or not, but I don't think Central has that policy... But don't quote me...

I'm coming on board 2/20/12. Which facility are you at? My recruiter said that typically they would have me to go GA for a few days, then to UT, but I will be going straight to UT. Not really sure why, she didn't seem to have a definitive answer as to why :biggrin_2552:.
I can't wait to get out there and get started. Thanks to eveyone on the boards for the info....It really helped me to make a final decision on who to go with!! After the smoke cleared, Central was certainly the best bet for me.

I have a student on my Trk now who is 6' and 250lbs. He said he had no issues and they did not make home do anyhing special. For your weight and height, I would not even worry.

i hired on at 6' 1" 330 lbs just pass the test for phyicall agility and you will be fine there was one guy who failed be cause of his weight kept him from passing the test..sleep apnea is an issue with drivers and alot of companys will let you drive with a cpap machine make sure you are up front with your situation and you will be fine
