I have worked for the same company since 2001. They started a team driver program back in 2008. My wife went thru truck driving school and I trained her for 6 weeks. After the training was over we did some random stuff but soon got into a dedicated route out to the west coast and back to Pa. We were paid .47 cpm (I got .24 cpm as the lead driver and she made .23 cpm as the second seat driver). We split all accessorial pay (drops/hooks, stops, detention, breakdown pay etc) 50/50. Our weekly average was around 5600 miles on our California turns which made us a little over $2600.00 together.

There are companies that offer higher mileage pay but I am content with the pay package my carrier offered at the time. My wife has health issues now and can no longer drive so I am back to driving solo.

I would love to land that. I think we would both love to be with his family on the weekends. I just really want to get my student loans paid off and not be away from him our first year being married.

A big part of landing a good gig is based on where you live. I see from your profile you are in Tn so you should be able to find a decent paying gig that runs thru TN. I would look into US Xpress to start with. Once you have some experience you can leverage better paying gigs. Hazmat haulers will get better pay than non haxmat haulers so be sure you guys get your hazmat endorsements.

I think Sai and Yellow offer some team opprotunites and have some of the best pay and benefits packages going.

The trucks may not be the best in the world but the money makes up for it.
