Sittin at the Flying J in Lodi, CA watching the 'vultures' circle. We don't deliver til 7am but w rolled in about 1900 pacific time last night and had to circle awhile to find a spot. Glad we decided to drive in yesterday instead of staying in Wendover, only about a dozen trucks have left all day and there's at least 4 trucks trying to grab each spot. Saw another Stevens circling for about an hour, don't know if he found a space or moved on elsewhere. Got a pre-plan yesterday for a run back to Denton, then, who knows?? Hope everyone is having a good week-end.

Any one else have an APU that no matter how many times it gets worked on, just doesn't work? I'm done with it! Have a Guy that's going to buy this one in as is condition for $1500 and pay to have it uninstalled. Got half down via t checks and already ordered its replacement. Going with a Honda quiet run generator. Says 58db, 3000 Watts and uses 1 gallon of gas a@50% load in 8.6 hours. (I know that's probably BS) and an LG stand up/self contained A/C and heater unit. All in all 350lbs lighter and hope for better luck.

dropping at WW cheyenne, wy and want to keep moving demand a pallet load out. Goes to garden city.

Made it home with 15 minutes left on my 70. Got a kick out of the wind messages today, this was a calm day for January in wy.

Dujo good luck with that setup... have had no problems with my apu, except for the first recall to replace the radiator.

Even with all the late loads and pickups this week, and working my behind off, and dealing with the glitches and outright bad dispatch, I turned 3100 miles. It was a tuff week, and I am worn out.

Another change of plans here. I woke up this am with a better head on my shoulders than when I accepted this Canada load. I have to be in El Paso by Sat. to pick my wife up from the airport there. Stevens has known about this for a month, and my dm has been working on getting me down there for a bit now. So when he said Grand Island-Laredo, it fit in perfectly with getting me to El Paso. Unfortunately, he did not communicate this with the meat department.

So I played the repower game. I ran it to Morris, IL where another driver took it off my hands. He was empty, however, and every time I have been in this area, I end up getting a 34hr restart waiting for a load...something that I really can't afford to do. If I had rejected this load, there is no doubt in my mind that I would still be in N. Platte waiting for a load. So at least I was able to run...even if it was in the wrong direction.

There are loads in this area that do run to TX as I have been on a couple. Any ideas on how I should persuade my dm to get me going asap?

The upside to taking that load is that it gave me a little over 800 miles to bring this weeks total to just under 2700. Still not as many as I would like, but a far cry from 1900 too!

First things first, since it's the week-end you will have to wait til tomorrow morning to touch base with your DM unless he or she trusts you with their private number, LOL. Second, it's always been my experience to try to fit your plans around Stevens, not try to make Stevens bend to fit your plans. I was 'back home' for a few weeks and my hubby and I figured out where it would be most convenient for me to fly to to meet him instead of deciding where I wanted to fly to and try to get him a load there. But it's a little too late for that now.

I would suggest that you send QC to your DM at about 730-745 reminding him/her of your need to be in El Paso, then try calling at about 815-830 since Mondays are always a bit crazy for them. Good luck, hope they get everything worked out.

This is a special circumstance. My wife is flying in and then we are going to surprise my Father for his birthday on the 5th. He is getting up there in years and is not in the greatest of health. I never get to see him, and I don't know how many opportunities after this one that I'll get.

In essence, I did fit my plans around Stevens. I talked to my dm about all of this beforehand, and got his assurance that it was doable on Stevens end before we bought airline tickets. What it boils down to (from what I see) is one of 3 things

-My dm failing to communicate the plan for getting me to TX with other departments
-My dm failing to make sure things were taken care of before he left for the weekend
-Other departments not caring about our plan because it isn't their job to care, but rather move freight from point A to B on time.

I see it as a combination of all 3, but then again, I could be completely off base too.

    Thanks for the advice.

Good, when the weather cooperates. lol. I'm stuck on the Indiana/Ohio border, heading to three drops in upstate NY state near Utica. Needless to say, safety says no-no and I'm not stupid enough to travel through 100+miles of 30-40MPH winds with gusts to 50 in rain all followed by 200+ miles of snow and blowing snow off the lakes along I-90 from Cleveland through Buffalo.
So, this three drop run is fuxored until further notice.
The fourth drop is Tuesday morning and quite possible. I'm hoping getting new appointments for the others for Tuesday won't be too bad and the current Tuesday can be done later in the day instead of the morning. I'm sure my DM will have an epileptic fit in the morning.
Otherwise, I really like it with Stevens. This could have been my third week over 3,000 miles in a row.
