The regional dispatchers dont have a clue on how to connect the dots to keep the driver productive, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing/terminal managers are worthless. If you want to be married to your truck than this is the perfect place for you,. Dont listen to the BS about consistant 2800-3100 mile weeks. The real deal is 1600-1900 weeks,Crete back-office motto is "If You Dont Like It Leave". The guy in Californea did just that qualed a message that said your #### trk with grass growin under the tires is parked at the TA in ontario,ca I'M DONE! This is just another company that has overlooked what has made them succesful which back in the day was taking care of drivers, keeping the driver productive and getting the driver home when he/she had planned, (not when it was conveinant for the company).

-
Then again just maybe the driver was lazy and not willing to work so his dm quit giving him loads just so he would go away which he did aparently, lol i know alot of happy createns.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I don't drive for Crete, but have a friend that's been with them nearly 3 years.
Loves it. Says he always gets his miles.
Been trying to recruit me for the last year.
I wouldn't put too much into this posters opinionairforcetoo and skibum_63 Thank this. -
crete, shafer, and the rest have turned into the absolute worst most unsafe company i can think of. i had the very worst driver i have even seen run me off the road awhile back. did about 2 grand in damage to my tractor (which despite a police report crete denied paying). when i can, i cost them money.
i posted pictures of the crete unit here that damaged my truck, but somebody here yanked the pictures. (gotta have them dollars i suppose).
i remember when they were a pretty well thought of outfit. now, pure garbage. -
they have had their moments just like alot of the rest.. but no matter how bad or mad a driver gets he should always want to get calm and get routed back to the terminal... instead he chose to dump the truck and now pay the price for his actions... but i understand how you feel... i had a steven truck take the front end off my pete in arizona at the pilot...SOB's still owe me 3 grand and that was in 2001...

Most company insurance departments have only one action: Deny, deny, deny.
As for the three mortal sins of trucking....guaranteeing you'll never be welcome in any company's doors:
1. Abandonment
2. DUI
3. Pee DirtyTheRoadWarrior and skellr Thank this. -
You hear good and bad things about any company. It is all the drivers personal observation and experience however I am more inclined to believe that where there is smoke there is fire.
Every company out there has unsafe drivers now. The problem is everyone started to not give a flip about anyone else. That's usually what happens when you put the younger generation in the seat who think they have something to prove (yes my generation)
I believe that only 5% of the drivers out there are unsafe but those guys give all of us who are doing the right thing a bad name but really there is nothing you can do about them. Just grab the mic, tell them what an ignorant ********* they are and keep rolling. -
Here is the truth about Crete. You will run 100%by the book legal, they keep their equipment in better shape than anywhere I have ever worked. You will get as many miles as you can legally do most weeks. That is the good.
Here is the bad, The corporate office in Lincoln does not give a rats rear end about you, you work here you are a number the same as any other piece of equipment. They will get you home 3 or 4 days a month, unless you are on one of the regional fleets. So if you like staying out 24-26 days at a times and you don't mind being a faceless number this is the place to work. Personally hate it here, but stay because of the bad economy. -
The Crete driver who was left in California. And quit is job...either you're a lazy driver, who can't talk to dispatch or just a lazy driver period. I've been with this company over four year. My farther twenty years, also my brother. I've never had a problem with this company. Never had a problem getting home. This is the first of the year...its slow everywhere...and for the other driver who thinks Cretecarrier and Shaffer is like any else...you're wrong..some of you drivers don't like change. So please go fine something else to do. It was the best thing I did after retiring from the marine corps. C.kilgore
