It only takes two to be able to call it a fleet.

This is me on a good week. I will make about 3500 and spend about 1800 in fuel. From the 1700 left, I will need to set aside 350 for truck payment, 25 for insurance, 75 for upcoming oil change/pm, 100 in to tire/repair account. Now comes the money to eat on the road which I try to keep at about 20 a day. So now I am making 1150 a week (1150 x 52 = 59800) which is good until you take away taxes and health insurance. I am retired military so for me it is just taxes and that is another 250 a week. Now I am down to 900 a week and this is a good week!

After every thread and post here on why NOT to do a L/P you are still considering it?

You'd be better off buying a thousand Turbo 3000D's... you would lose less $$$....

Stick with your company truck... you don't have enough seat time to make a business decision or you would never have considered a L/P.... I mean no disrespect but one year of driving for a mega-fleet doesn't make you a trucker...

And you can take the "Turd Blow 3,000D's" to the salvage yard after and sell them for scrap!

Just FYI I have run a business before, there are differences that can be compensated for by learning and asking questions, which is what I am doing here. Do not insult my intelligence by presuming you know me, my thought process, my education or capacity to learn. I have taught myself welding, rough carpentry, basic plumbing and industrial electrical, roofing, glassblowing, advanced computer repair design and assembly...all of which I have moonlighted during my cemetery and monument business slow season for extra cash, and all of which I learned from reading books and taking online courses. Plus countless other hobbies to occupy my time such as auto mechanics, body work and fabrication.

So I don't fit your definition of a trucker, on my tax form when it asks for occupation I put professional driver.

In the end it is my decision and my consequences, but do not tell me what I am and am not able to do, you are not qualified to make such statements. Facts only please.

Why not get a company job for a flat bed outfit and learn what your doing. Save some money and then buy a good used truck. Lease onto the company that you worked for as a company driver and then you'll already know their good lanes and their system in general. Call PGT or someone similar.

Sorry about the rant. I was tired and cranky. I usually try not to go off like that. Just venting some steam.
