I start my last week of cdl school today and I hope to get on with Prime's flatbed div after. Having a heck of time talking to a recruiter, she calls either while I am driving or practicing backing, and when I call back two or three minutes later I get V.M. Oh well eventually. Goodluck with your career Parhill

Hey guys, what is the Prime cdl training structure like? How long are you with a trainer? Did i read correct that you have to team with a trainer for 4 to 6 monthes before going solo?

This is the CDL training structure.

If you do not have your CDL license, then you will either need to get your permit in your home state or get your permit in Springfield. You will come into the program as a PSD (Prime Student Driver). At this point - you are not hired by Prime. By Federal regulations, they cannot hire you until you get your CDL license.

You will do a 4 day orientation in Springfield before going on the road with the trainer. From there you will be on the road for approximately 3 to 5 weeks (depending on how well you do). During this time, they will give you a 200 dollar cash advance per week to help you with your own personal expenses while on the road. You will pay this back at 25 dollars a week until you have paid it off. (PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to take the cash advance if you do not want to. It is just there in case you need it.)

After your training and your trainer feels you are ready, you will go back to Springfield where you will test for you CDL. Once you pass, you become a Prime Driver. You will then be placed back on a trainer truck with accredited 10,000 miles on your record. You will need to get at least 30,000 more as a B-seat driver (driving team with the trainer) until you can get your own truck.

Once you accomplish that, you will have the option to go either Company or Lease. You will come back to Springfield and go through another orientation for your upgrade to your own truck.

So - let me break down the week structure.

    PSD - 3 to 5 weeks, then B-seat if 4 to 8 weeks. Total: 3 to 5 months.

Now...if you come in with your CDL and no experience, you just do the B-seat for 4 to 8 weeks. Dependent on if you have a lot of experience, then you will just go and get your own truck.

Actually if you come in with your CDL no Experience you will be a C Seat driver

You stay in each phase until your instructor/trainer decides you are ready to move on.
