maybe you should get a lic. and go with vhf radios, good range on simplex and u can use repeaters for even longer range operation. I use a yaesu 2900 for work and i get out 50 miles on it![]()

Canada has a VHF band for truckers you might check into it too ....
We have MURS here it is not bad but limited .....
MURS ... 151.82, 151.88, 151.92, 154.57 and 154.600 mhz FM

I read that Industry Canada will be opening the MURS frequencies for license free use in Canada in 2014.

the freq. are ladd 1 154.100, ladd 2 158.940, ladd 3 154.325 and ladd 4 173.370. these are used mainly in western canada but im starting to hear more use east of manitoba. And for anybody who wants to run the yukon the main freq is ladd 2. (the scales use this one)Mad Dog 20/20 Thanks this.
