Last night on the news I saw a short segment about a truck driver who was held up at gunpoint by 3 men and robbed(the news reported his wallet being the only thing stollen) while he was stopped on the shoulder of a highway.
This pisses me off to no end. These jack*** idiots must not realized that this guy they robbed belongs to the breed of people who are delivering just about everything their sorry #####'s and their families need and want to live on. Stupid idiot's just must not realize without that guy they robbed and his kind, well they wouldn't have a pot to piss in now would they.
I apologize for my foul mouth, but it really burns me up. I know this type of thing is all too common, and I'm assuming just about every single truck driver out there is prohibited from carrying a firearm for protection, and in the end... what are you gonna do... I suppose there is always pepper spray, bats or clubs, and such... but being held up at gun point by multiple perpetrators, those things probably are not going to help you in that situation.
It may be true the particular location the truck driver stopped at could have been a poor choice, however, this is on a major highway... and besides that, perhaps he had a breakdown, or needed to check something that didn't seem right with his equipment. I don't know the fine details, but I do know that he probably had a logical, good reason for being parked where he was.
What do you guys think about this?

It happens, been to a lot of scary places, even truck stops/rest areas. How about Az. I-40 east rest area west of Flag about 3 am near the restroom ? Can you say "sitting duck" ?
-
No offense but would it have been better if they robbed a (insert profession here) while on the side of the road? It's wrong no matter (almost) who it is being victimized.
Licensed to kill Thanks this. -
the real Q is why the driver got out of his truck if the armed men were not in uniform
-
Yea I totally agree with you there. The robbery or whatever goes down is not ok in other circumstances.
I just meant how a truck driver being parked on the side of the road, and here comes some guys up to no good, the truck driver is not getting back in the truck and making a get away, nor getting assistance from the law (in enough time). Just a sitting duck. -
Back many years ago, we had a driver that pulled over to assist a little old lady with what appeared to be a breakdown. When he walked up to her, she smiled and shot him in the chest. Her 2 grandsons, who were hidden nearby, took his wallet and keys, put the boots to him and left with the rig. Granny shot him once more and drove off. He survived barely but was crippled for life.
Evidently, they had done this a couple times before; killing the driver both times. -
Now that is just twisted, wow.
I'm sure the 2 grandkids are doing well these days. -
As is a soccer mom that ran out of gas or a millionaire CEO with a flat tire on his Bentley. IMO, the fact that he was a trucker is completely irrelevant. These things shouldn't happen to anybody. Over 25 years ago my sister and here husband were held up at gun point in an underground mall parking lot in the middle of the day in LA. They stole wallets jewellery, everything of value including his Corvette. People were walking by only a few yards away and just pretended to see nothing and go on their way. It could have been worse. Remember Bill Cosby's son Ennis. He was shot and killed on the side of the road when he stopped with a flat tire.

Man jumped up on my truck in NYC. Wanted my wallet, got freaked and shot me. I shot him with mine, he died, I didn't. A fire arm in a tractor is a needed tool. Way it is now days
-
Did you have to serve any jail time for this? I'm just asking because I thought I couldn't carry a fire arm in a truck?
