I've looked around here and on-line and short of going to the website of each and every company to see if they even discuss it, I have been wondering if there is an industry average for layover pay? Figure most rules are that it requires 24 hour down time - CR England offers a whooping $25 (but WAIT! they pay for a motel after THREE days idle, LOL!). SO, just short answers, could I get some responses with just the name of the company and what they pay per day. Dont need any other info at all, just what they pay, per day, for layover. I know it dropped during the recession but where is the average now? $60? $75? $50? thanks for the input!

I get 80 bucks for layover pay.

I think the bigger question(s) should be #1, will I actually be paid any "owed" layover pay, #2, if layover pay is such a concern, perhaps you need to move somewhere else that doesn't require you to be concerned with layover pay.
You'll most likely have to ##### and gripe for a week to get them to pay any layover pay you feel you are owed, wherever you end up. It's not something most care to pay or feel they are obligated to pay, under any circumstances. -
Between $25 and $75 a day should be average, starting at day 1 to day 2. A little trick is for dispatch to "dispatch" you 1 hour before your layover time starts, with a pick-up 75 miles down the road, so you have to drive there, then load the following morning.

for those that are confused by my post - I do not have an agenda and am not concerned with my layover pay (I am an hourly local driver). I simply am looking for responses such as MrEd and sevenmph. The amount (and if you care to add it, the name of the company so I don't have duplicate reports of the same company). Looking for stats here people, not generalizations or snarky comments.

I'm paid $22.00 after 14 hrs. Clock stops at 22 hrs and then I go back on the clock after another 10 hrs.

I do otr food grade tank, and if I can show 24 hours past my appointment time on my log book, I get $150.

In my experience, the average layover pay was the same as the average detention pay....zero. Layover pay, detention pay, dragons, and honest politicians all exist on th same mythological plane.

Used to be $100 after 24 hours. With my current company, its hourly after 12 hours.
