Freight volumes seem to really be picking up! I came into the terminal yesterday and had a load out right away! (delivering 4 stops in KY and IN today) The last few times that I have gone in, the desk is loaded with freight! More miles means more money! Dealing better with the new dispatcher-still get to talk to some old friends who worked the areas that I like to run in and found out that I go off of his board when I'm in the northeast. Since I spoke with Gary regarding the issues that I had, things seem to be getting better. My dispatcher is far more respectable and has helped me out the few times I have asked him to since then. This week I will have around 2800 miles-can't complain about that! Also, the health insurance here is the best that I have ever had in trucking (including auto freight years ago). It costs, but my husband has had heart issues and needed to be in the hospital for a week and the insurance covered all but $100.00. They also cover a medication that he needs that is over $400.00 a month. Other drivers that I have talked to about the insurance say the same thing.
I ran into another driver friend of mine a few days ago and we were talking about all of the changes here. He has been with them for five years and has gone through all of the cuts in pay and benefits and he and I were talking about other companies out here and how so many drivers are leaving right now. He said that he has looked around and has found that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I think he is right. I don't always love my job, but I know that it's one of the best jobs out here! We get paid holidays, a paid phone expense, layover after 2 hours (at something like $19.00 an hour and up to $150.00 per day) and when it does get frustrating I do have people that I can talk to inside. I have been here almost 2 years now and plan on being here much longer! Sometimes, changes are hard to deal with and they do happen here just like everywhere else!
Good luck paintball! Hope that you are on the road soon!1catfish Thanks this. -

Off to a rocky start to say the least. Got back home on the greyhound last friday (the 13th). MLK day on monday delayed their (my team) backhaul delivery in PA by a day so they didn't get back down here to FL until wednesday afternoon to pick me up. The problem with that was the load didn't deliver 'til friday. So friday steve and I head for the miami area. 2 stops near ft lauderdale and the last in miami. Done by 2 pm but can't reload til 8 am saturday. Two pickups in miami saturday morning, both cut flowers for a grocery warehouse in pottsville pa, and we're finally on our way. Load doesn't deliver till 1am monday so we spent all of sunday afternoon and evening @ steves sisters house in thurmont md. Very nice. Called for freezing rain so we left a little early and got to pottsville around 3 hrs early. Unloaded by 1:30 and surprisingly they already had another load for us. A load to the gay bay that picked up nearby at 8am. However, before steve could even get the info written down from the qualcomm, they canceled it. That was supposed to be for a dedicated run/team they said. So we had to sit and wait till morning for someone to give us something else to do. Finally we go down by philly and swap trailers and head for the barn in jersey. Turn in our paperwork for this whopper of a week (about 2500 miles) and get new paperwork, a load from the yard to windy. So here we sit now in elgin at the first of 3 stops in the area. Supposedly we'll be picking up and headed right back towards jersey, then florida again. Steve will get off there for his 10 days at home and jeff will get on for his 20 out. Not a good week (hell...2 weeks already I guess) but we've been told that things are getting taken care of. I'm still trying to be optimistic but starting to get a little worried too. Hope everybody is doing well and stays safe. Keep 'em rolling.

Just left NCT today.Equipment is iffy at best. Not good at all on keeping up with truck repairs. With CSA in force that is not good att all.Sat for 3 days with a broken truck. Then a team picked me up with hazmat and no room in there truck.Because of hazmat on trailer, would not go to my truck to retrieve any items.Dispatch wanted me to run all over the USA for at least a week or more with no items at all on spare truck. Said in orientation that safety was top priority.Long drawn out speech about it,but not exactly the case. Good luck with truck assignment.Do have new trucks, but new employees do not see them.Had 2 different trucks in 1 month.2006 freightliner,2007 Kenworth. Both with problems (APU) Kenworth was better (Automatic) Very friendly to new employees in orientation, afterwards a little change in attitude towards drivers.(EX-Load managers, driver relations, payroll)Better luck to all that make the change. Pay is pretty decent. As normal in this industry,no breakdown pay of any kind.

Things have picked up a little bit. Sitting in Lubbock Tx waiting for someone to show up at this place so we can drop our airgas tube trailer, pick up an empty one and head back to Indiana with it. The miles are starting to pick up but still not up to where I hoped they'd be. This week will be in the 5500 mile range if we go back to jersey from indiana. Much better than the 2500 & 3200 mile weeks we had previously. Still trying to be positive and hope this isn't a fluke. Thought I was finally gonna meet you in westampton one day there housecat. You said you were one of the few solo female drivers here so when I asked one if she happened to be housecat she said no, looking at me strange the whole time like I was trying to pick her up or something. Puhleeze! I have a wife! Anywho... Still trying to be optimistic and see how things progress. Only about 5 more days till I start my ten days off. I'm looking forward to it as much as the family is. Will try to keep the posts coming. Meanwhile housecat, I'm in 64077, a t600. Keep an eye out for me and come up and say howdy. I don't think me going up to a solo female driver and asking "are you the lady I was talking to on the internet?" is working out too well. Maybe coming across as a bit of a pathetic stalker. Lol. Stay safe!
