Just getting out of a semi and thinking of getting a one ton and running hot shot. Would appreciate any advice on type of trailer, hitch, or anything else you can tell me.

I jus recently came bak from overseas with 2 yr previous experience. Many companies don't take overseas as experience even though I was doin the same stuff. So I have the same question that you have!

A paid for one gives you the best home time.

Was thinking of getting a 1 ton with stakebed for times a trailer is not needed! Wats not too bad of mileage on that kind of truck for a beginner?

I've never seen one with stakes . Strapping it down does the job .

I run duallys with great home time ,But im dedicated on my runs .Now the freight is kinda slow for some .Been in both worlds of trucking .Big Rig & HotShot .The hot shot does me just fine ,more home time for me anyhow and great pay to keep me comfortable and have extra to spend. Its a lot of hard work to suceed but ,its not for every one .
Think on your situtation ,Most go broke with in the first yr of hotshotting .
Just make sure you have at least 15 k in the bank laying around .
    Just my opinion .

I looked up a few to get price range & think that's way I'm gonna go. I Hav a guy that wants to drive under my authority but he doesn't have cdl! Known him a while & I wouldn't mind the help paying truck off! I know it's things to be careful of so I'm taking all advice & criticism !

You'd need this file for him and yourself . Make sure you're in a random drug test pool . Some county health departments offer them . http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=391.51

A stakebed will limit your possibilities !!!!

What if the return load requires a trailer ???
