We, do it the DOT way...by law not Cretecarrier's way. You, have your 10% everywhere...those people are lazy...

Yes-but how much money do you make a year? Do it the DOT way? Sounds like a 40 hour work week to me.
Crete Carrier is an outstanding company

Do you know what pulling a refer is all about? If you are just starting out-you make not like the long hours of waiting around at food warehouses. Thats what is mostly about, and most of the refer loads have to be hand-unloaded, and you will probably run a lot of east coast. Make sure you want to pull a refer or know all about it first. Thats my advice.

This was more than five years ago. It was a horrible accident and the report clearly documents the errors that Crete as a company made. That tragedy helped cement the radical change that Crete made to it's management which now places the greatest emphasis on safety. It might not have been for moral issues alone; the financial costs for continueing the reckless behavior that management supported and encouraged during the period leading up to that accident was going to be too costly
Even the phrase "There are no shortcuts" has origins from that incident.
If one reviews current safety data, Crete's transformational change has benefited the motoring public and it's drivers. Everyone is safer.
I can't wait for the "recruiter" allegations to begin! -
So it took killing 7 kids and an NTSB investigation and FMCSA fines to "cement the radical change " . Moral issues alone ? There were NO morals involved . Crete management bought their way out by immediately playing CYA and hiring the best attorneys money could buy . No remorse , no sense of accountability . The same people are still in charge .

Lawyering up is not any admission of guilt. If it were, almost everyone who was ever in a courtroom would be admitting quilt. The only companies who don't hire a lawyer in an event like that, don't need to hire them, because they have them on retainer. There are very very few companies who haven't had a driver involved in a fatality accident. And they have to CYA and try to minimize their liability to protect the company and all the other employees who work there.
-
Once, again I'm not a recruiter but, a driver who is very much pro Crete. Also, Crete isn't the only company that a driver had killed someone.
-
Thanks, tried to read that pdf but legalese just makes my head hurt. -
How many carriers have hired the best attorneys available the day after a driver has an accident ?
The way to CYA and minimize liability is to not push drivers to violate HOS . -
If you don't practice CYA then your a fool. I practice CYA so my employer can't put the screws to me. Why would I be foolish enough to think that a company does not put the same practice in play. If your going to court you should always have a lawyer present. The better the lawyer the better for you. Duh! What moron would go into court without putting up a fight? Duh! Geez peeps, put some thought in your comments before posting. You posting may only sound like a intelligent comment to you and no one else (like this one).

You're missing the point . How many truck drivers do you think have any type of representation paid for by their employer ? In almost every case the driver is terminated and has to get his own legal counsel . In this case Crete got the best legal representation money could buy . They didn't want the driver giving any information to anybody . His attorneys spoke for him .
Crete is so low I'm surprised they didn't hire a hitman to silence the driver . They had already killed 7 kids .
