buying an 06 t600 with the new style dash. I have heard all these new dashes are microprocessor controlled and you can take the gauges out, move them all around and plug them back in different holes and they still work. is that true?

This truck doesn't have a boost gauge or a pyrometer. I would imaging the ecm records those things. could adding the gauges be as simple as just buying the gauges and plugging them into an empty spot?I'm thinking not but thought it was worth asking

For the boost guage you will need the guage and a jumper wire, the parts guy should know. The pyri you will nee the sending unit,as one is not installed already. You will find its plug near where the sending unit installs, and the pyro guage. If yo don't have enough holes in the dash you will need to buy another panel, mine cost @ $160.00 but that was in '07 so I bet the price is higher. Good luck.

The guages are multiplexed and need to be programmed to work.. you can move them around but if you remove or add guages the dash computer will need to be programmed for them to work or not log faults if removed..

So is this something the dealer should handle then?

Yeah, the gauges work on a daisy chain. The cecu sends out signals to the different gauges by addresses. That's why you can move them around. You can buy another dash panel but it is cheaper to cut your own hole if you can. Keep in mind to stay within the distance of the jumpers. Most dealers can help you out.
